New IDP Designations

We're renaming DE to EDR and DT to IL (but you can opt out):

• Defensive End (DE) has been renamed Edge Rusher (EDR) and now includes outside linebackers in a 3-4 defense (e.g., Khalil Mack, TJ Watt, Shaq Barrett).
• Defensive Tackle (DT) has been renamed Interior Lineman (IL) and now includes defensive ends in a 3-4 defense (e.g., Calais Campbell, Matt Ioannidis, Jonathan Allen).

Why? Edge rushers in a 3-4 defense have stats comparable to defensive ends, not linebackers. And defensive ends in a 3-4 defense have stats comparable to defensive tackles. This makes the scoring more balanced in IDP leagues.

NOTE Commissioners can opt-out of the new designations and convert their league back to traditional DE, DT, and LB. You can switch to the old designations (or back to the new ones) at any time: League » Settings » Edit Roster Requirements » Custom. Then click Use EDR/IL/LB or Use traditional DE/DT/LB.

ESPN tried doing this also. Hopefully flearlicker don't have the likes of Kyle Van Noy as an Edge rusher like the idiots on ESPN. Not every single OLB on a team with a 3-4 base is an edge rusher.

Any lb who plays pass coverage named as edge rusher will be fantasy gold. Pass breakups, INTs, tackles galore. DEs will be fantasy redundant soon , there should be specific criteria met for an OLB to be named as and Edge Rusher, a teams base defense shouldn't be a factor whatsoever.

I probably wouldn't have dropped Dupree in the first place if they had made the EDG/IL change before the draft, this essentially makes actual DT worthless.

It's fine if the leagues select the right players for EDG. Pretty sure the way it seems to be heading with these position reassignments most leagues will eventually have a starting configuration where everyone must start at least one DT in their lineup.


Should be something like:

DB X 2 (CB or S)
EDGE or DE X 2
DT or IL X 1
LB only X 2
FLEX X 1

It might be a good time at the end of this season to do a review of the league's roster requirments and potenitally some of the newer rule options that have become available since the league was unceremoniously 'rage deleted'.

Even if we don't end up changing anything or alot, we can at least confirm we are happy enough with where they are.

I'm not actually sure FF allows you to set scoring per position. I'd have to have a look.

Though they seem pretty open to ideas so if it isn't wouldnt hurt to ask about it.
