I'm sure by now most of you have got the letter from Paul Little explaining how we're in debt etc. He informed us that in this years membership fees they'll be adding a $50 donation to the Flight Plan, and that if we want to cancel it there'll be "instructions included as to how to cancel it".

The f*** is this shit? After the year we've just had, after promises that the club would be engaging with members a lot more and listening etc, they're putting $50 extra on our membership unless WE cancel it? Why not just a box to tick if we'd like to donate? It's pathetic.

Yeah, bit of a (not so) cheap trick:thumbsdown:

yeah but I don't like it.. if I want to donate.. then I'll donate.. and I have already..

Don't need this kind of crap tbh.. feels disgusting and leaves a sour taste..

This club needs to be very very very very careful.. they have dicked a lot of people around this year and this little cheap ass stunt could cost them members.. stupid stupid stupid decision.

Starting to think maybe our club has no idea how vulnerable it is right now.

It's sneaky no doubt, but they have sent a letter out informing what they are doing so it's not like they are hiding it.

Didn't they learn from last year when they had the 'opt out' for the membership renewal?

If they want us to have the option of giving more they should have an 'opt IN' for the $50. This form of donation grabbing is very dirty IMO. A lot of people who aren't in the position to give an extra $50 on top of memberships will feel forced as they feel they'll look cheap if they opt out.

I don't like it. I buy my membership every year and donate to the club when I can. I will NOT be giving the extra $50 purley because of the way they have set it up in the membership.

Forgive the intrusion but I know North did the same with our debt reduction because the research shows that if you let people "opt in" you get about 20 per cent take up but if you just stick it on and make people "opt out" you get about 80 per cent who don't opt out, or more accurately, 80 per cent take up.

It may work but it's still deceiving. Those numbers just say that they're taking advantage of people who aren't aware that it's occurring.

although its a little odd, its 50 bucks so thats just 1 less slab of a beer a year. for the love of the club m willing to cop it

There's a Flight Plan jumper with my name on it that says I've done my bit already.

I donated this year to the Flight Plan, so I won't be repeating the dose - but I don't really care about this.

Not really a problem to me, they were upfront and sent a letter beforehand regarding it which clearly stated what they are doing.

No issues here. Club needs my help I'll gladly do it. Don't really see it as dodgy. They let us know what they were doing and gave us the option of opting out. They could just have easily smacked $50 on top of mbership prices without and opt out function.

the club doesn't need your help they can live perfectly fine without your extra $50 it's just a shameless cash grab

Meh it's $50 I'd rather my club be rich than not if my $50 helps that no big deal.

It's actually an effective and clever technique, albeit a bit sneaky. I don't mind it, the club needs to be innovative. Also Kong, don't necessarily blame Paul Little, this would be a decision from marketing/membership department and either conceived or at least ticked off by the executive team (Ray Gunston)...

Assuming due diligence did happen that is :D

Give me back my option for an 18 game H&A general admission membership and I might think about giving you extra money. Until I've got the ability to choose who I sit with on a weekly basis all the club will be getting is my membership fee. And especially after what's gone on in the last year or two.
