I really think the structures are holding up, but they can’t account for the magnitude of errors individuals will make. We are in this jam until the players themselves rise above their own short comings. Regardless of who it is, put the blue and white stripes on and you inherit what this team has been about for 10 years.

Nah mate. Too many situations where the whole defensive structure is a shambles.

1. We lose a stoppage or centre clearance and our midfield defensive structure is a shambles = clean stoppage exits for the opposition.

2. Opposition kick in defensive structure is non existent = end to end goals.

3. Our own kick out structure is non existent = stagnant ball use, resulting in turnovers and opposition goals.

4. Defensive positioning and zone when the opposition take possession across our half forward line is a mess. We turn it over across our half forward line, and the opposition take it into their fwd 50 with ease.

5. Forward movement. Complete shambles. Forwards not leading or leading away from the ball carrier or multiple forwards leading to the same space and competing for the same ball = poor efficiency inside fwd 50.

Our structures are a big reason why we haven’t won a few more this year.

Take names out of it, the coaches have to look at the side and say, what don't we have to do what we want to do.

For me it is:

- no run off HB to challenge opposition sides;
- lack of composure and skill execution coming out of D50;
- lack of defensive mindset on the outside of stoppages;
- no competitive marking forward of centre;
- lack of crumbing in F50;

Then we can start attaching names. Players like Hardeman need to be front and centre.

We were a very experienced team today. Older than the swans and more games played. This was a bad a loss as any in the last 5 years

We were at this exact juncture against a young Sydney side in 2019 (I think?) in Hobart who were younger and hungrier than us. We lost (of course), they've played in two grand finals since and we have possibly finished bottom four every year since except that one?

It is just really demoralising. Had a guy in front of me try to punch on with a Sydney fan, don't think he landed a single blow but he showed more fight than the whole team did.

I'm just worn out and feel nothing now, I'm not even angry. It's just so much easier on my state of mind to be less invested. I've been to three games this year and had a good-ish time at all of them but sometimes I really just wonder if North Melbourne football exists anymore. I just expect us to be shit and it's kind of a pleasant surprise when we're not, but I just know the next shit loss is coming
