I have no choice other than to be an atheist.

The lack of outrage against Folau for condemning atheists for their nature just shows this whole thing for what it is.

There is no special outrage reserved for one of the by-lines here. You’re either offended that Folau is telling people they’ll go to hell for mostly everyday acts, or you’re not. Only being offended for one “group” is just petty identity politics, the buy-in to which in my estimation, makes you as foolish as those who believe in the invisible man.

There is a huge difference MK, I too am an atheist, I fornicate, have lied as well as.... was a drunkard. Those activities are a choice. Homosexuality is not a choice anymore than being a heterosexual is, sexual attraction is innate.

It is the implication behind the "going to hell" message that is offensive and bigoted, it speaks to the state of mind of Folau and many others.

Nah sorry, but being an atheist is not my choice. I can’t just choose to suddenly believe in God. That’s ridiculous jpm. I can’t help but lie. Behavioural science has shown this as an innate human quality. What about swingers? They’re also going to hell on Folau’s list. Are their sexual proclivities a choice too? This is nonsense.

The only difference here is identity politics. That only one by-line on Folau’s list is conferred with a group identity. To me, people who hold these beliefs are as kooky as those religious types who hold Folau’s.

You’ll generally find it where someone is telling someone else what they‘re allowed to think and say. I guess these topics illicit a lot of people telling other people what they’re allowed to think and say.

I hate to break it to you, but people are allowed to think sinners will go to hell. You simply can’t demand everyone think like you. Such thinking will surely lead to challenges with mental health.

I am an atheist, I made my choice on evidence and/or a lack of evidence.

I have lied and every time it was something I thought about and did, and felt guilty about it after on most occasions.

I haven't researched the subject of swingers enough to know whether that is an innate activity or not, having an educated from experience guess I'd say it is largely curiosity and/or unadulterated lust.

I say again- I'm all for Folau exercising his free speech although you must expect to be challenged and for there to be some consequences for those views when you put it in the public sphere. Nothing is stopping him from posting similar biblical bigotry and hypocrisy right now. I also have no problem with him raising funds for what he sees as a holy cause.

People stood up and challenged and continue to call out racist views and actions, IMO challenging Homosexual discrimination and derogatory Homophobic views and actions is much the same.
