With the broacast of free to air rights all but decided, its got me thinking what the future of live matches will be like. How many of you would subscribe to a package of your own teams matches live on the internet, would it stop you from going to as many games live? Do you think free to air will end up being the poor cousin to pay TV and internet broadcasts? Will we be better off?

I often listen to Liverpool matches on the internet. And it's damn frustrating. Buffering. And getting cut off all the time.

They'll need to improve the technology a bit.

Nah. You can't beat being at the game. But it's just getting too expensive. I think within the next couple of years I'm going to be priced out of the football market. I can barely afford it now.

nothing could ever stop me from going to the footy!
There's nothing better than being there watching the game live, in the crowd, the atmosphere...everything.

I would much prefer to be there in comparison to watching a game of football on a computer screen.

Granted i think theres no question we all would prefer a live game, im more concerned about amount of footy that eventually will be available on free to air, i think when the TV rights next come up in 5 years youll find well be paying to watch our teams play, especially when playing interstate. I dont think free to air TV will be worth much it will be the PAY TV and internet rights that will be worth a fortune, which will mean pay per view!

Your probably right Bubbalouis you will probably have to pay to see your teams games on TV in the future. But when you think about it how much live football did we use to get on TV in the 70's and early 80's not much. I cant remember footy being shown live until the swans moved to Sydney.

I believe we have been spoilt in the 90's with the amount of free to air football we do get.

I believe us supporters of the non victorian teams will still get to see our teams games every week free to air as well as probably the match of the round , but with 10 teams in Victoria it makes it impossible to show all games anyway.

I can't wait for the option of being able to watch my favourite teams worldwide over the internet. I will gladly pay for that option.

I say give the Internet rights to Mags! Ill take good care of them!

As for paying for to watch you’re to play on the Internet I would never go in that.

At the moment I refuse to pay afl.com.au to listen to audio coz there is always something around the Internet where u can listen to it for free.

In America u can watch Nba and Nhl games etc over the Internet (Not just audio).

The Afl is ripping us off! Soon they will probably make Bluey most likely close down this lovely little Website we come and talk about our footy. Coz the AFL are bastards!

Thankyou Jubster, exactly my point, soon all Melbourne based Cats fans wont be able to watch great feats like that unless they have pay TV or pay a fee to watch over the internet, although beatin a team coached by Ken Judge isnt exactly world shattering stuff. Maybe this is the way to go, maybe we have been spoilt by the amount of free to air coverage in the last decade or so? Who knows might increase the amount of people that watch games live when they get the chance. I believe the only way to watch your soccer team in England is by subscribing to BSkyB, coincidently owned by one R.MURDOCH, name ring a bell?
