Sure the new 8/10/foxtel TV rights deal sounds great - all matches shown of every round is their promise.
However, has anyone heard what the coverage for interstate viewers will be like?
Currently in Qld, we see the following on free to air each week:
- 1 Sat and 1 Sun match live
- Friday night match is replayed at midnight (if at all)
- If the Lions play a Sat night match, it is replayed at midday on Sunday.
Pretty disappointing coverage, especially for non Lion supporters like myself as they get preference for the Sat and Sun coverage. Naturally we were all excited upon hearing of the new rights deal.
Now, looking ahead to 2002 has anybody heard what will happen? They seem rather quiet about their plans. All I've read to date (and correct me if I'm wrong) is that 9 will show games live, 10 will show replays. So does this mean Qld will only be shown replays considering 9 shows league matches Friday nights, Saturday and Sunday afternoons?
Does anyone know what will be happening? I'm concerned that I no longer will see my Hawks matches live - and quite frankly what is the point of watching a match after the event?
How are other "interstaters" feeling?
