Squiggle tips Saints at 51% chance -- What's your tip? -- Team line-ups »
Does anyone have any more info on Francis? any NEAFL watchers care to provide their thoughts? I'm liking the fact that he has some teaching experience, clearly a dual role at the club.
*penny drops*One of the finest exponents of the expletive laden, high decibel three-quarter time bakes going around.
I.e. If players disappoint him, they'll know.
“I’m delighted with the opportunity. I’ve always been keen to get back involved,” Schwab recently told 3AW radio in Melbourne.
Schwab has developed a good relationship with Leppitsch after only a short period of time, and said he’s happy to be a sounding board for the first-time coach as required.
“If he feels the need to seek advice on certain situations, he’ll ask what my view is. I’m really there for advice,” Schwab said.
“It’s worked really well. I’ll certainly speak my mind. The best part about it is that he asks when he needs to ask and I’m there to do what I can to make sure he has a long and successful career here.”
Before he officially joined the Lions, Schwab formed part of the coaching selection panel that helped appoint Leppitsch.
“We hadn’t (had much to with each other previously). It all came about because of my association with Leigh (Matthews) and I’m close friends with Dean Warren, and I helped the Club with their coaching search,” he said.
“That was my only real contact with Justin. He was very impressive throughout the interview process.
“The first thing that struck me was that he’s got a clear idea of what he wants to do. He’s got a new game plan, he’s organised, is a terrific communicator, and has already built great relationships within the football club. I think he’ll be an outstanding coach.”
Schwab didn't do a terrible job at Hawthorn, but he hasn't even been interviewed for a senior job since then. He's been involved in the selection of coaches at Melbourne and Brisbane. Those clubs valued his coaching nous enough to pick his brain - in Brisbane's case, the club hired him in a support role. But like Pagan, Neale Daniher, Neil Balme, Danny Frawley, Dean Bailey, Terry Wallace, Matthew Knights and others, his senior coaching passport was stamped years ago
The critical factor in his rehabilitation was that he was able to remain as a senior assistant and rebuild his bona fides. He also improved and learnt from his failures, in the manner of John Howard, who - as Graham Richardson said - made every mistake in the political book, but he made each of them only once.
Fantastic assistant coach. Probably the 2IC to Scott, not sure he has senior ambition though.Interested to see what people's thoughts are on our old mate Nigel Lappin.
Been at Geelong for 6 seasons now, you would think he would like to spread his wings in the coaches ranks, maybe back up here as an assistant??
And recent events suggest he might be better suited to a totally off-field role.Interested to see what people's thoughts are on our old mate Nigel Lappin.

JUSTIN Leppitsch has begun the task of bringing his own people into a tailor-made coaching panel by recruiting former colleague Danny Daly from Richmond as the Lions’ new midfield coach. Under Leppitsch’s reshuffle, current midfield coach Shane Woewodin will now take charge of the Lions’ NEAFL side while veteran Garry O’Donnell, who was an assistant to Leigh Matthews during Brisbane’s premiership years, returns to the senior coaching panel after spending recent seasons in a development role. He will have a match day role alongside Daly, whose primary responsibility will be stoppages.
Talks are also underway to lure former Lion Craig Lambert back to the club. Lambert and his wife Melissa are revered at the Gabba where, during their long stint in welfare at the club throughout the Leigh Matthews years, Brisbane rarely lost players. Lambert has a year to run in his role at GWS but an approach has been made to their general manager of football, Graeme Allan, who was footy manager during three premierships at the Lions, to see if the Giants are open to releasing him. Those talks continue.

Awesome news about Lambert.
Would be great - my mail is that S Katich is very highly rated by everyone within the Giants setup. no surprise to me quality bloke who should have lead his country - Giants have some very solid systems in place with solid people in key roles - Lamberts are integral to it.Justin Leppitsch bringing his own coaches into Brisbane Lions, hires Danny Daly from Richmond

Lethal is defacto Chair and heavily involved in key football decisions.I get the sense that Lethal is also putting his stamp on things and helping Leppa get the right people around him.
He wasn't overly enamoured with our previous administration - let's leave it at that. Think he will end up back at the Bombers. What are peoples thoughts about Mark Harvey? He could be a good Senior Assistant to Leppa.
I could imagine that. From speaking to people at various functions in 2011/12 I was told that he was really good for Vossy's gameplan and that he refined it quite well.He wasn't overly enamoured with our previous administration - let's leave it at that. Think he will end up back at the Bombers.
So long Charmo?
