WTF!?

You just said it didn't have the A League but you haven't looked into it? How would you know it doesn't carry the league then? And further more, other posters have already confirmed this!

I've read countless posts that you have put forward and I have come to the conclusion that you're are possibly one of the most useless, un-intelligent, bandwich sandwich eating posters ever!

thanks for the compliment.

i thought i made it quite clear that FM 2005 doesn't feature the new A League but i havn't looked into it much as in i havn't played with it but i have the game and i can quite clearly see that it is the old NSL. I even just reinstalled the game then and checked for you, just to double check and confirm what i already knew.

any other requests?

FFS the A-LEAGUE IS IN FM05!!! Well my version anyway. Go and download the patch, that might fix it.

What is his name? Did you get him from the under 20s or was it from a transfer?
Yeah he just popped up in the under 20's, he wouldn't exist anywhere else but in my game.

are u sure munga? i dont know know much about the A league but i know it has stuff like Melbourne Victory and a new zealand team, stuff like that and when i started a new game in FM 2005 with patch 5.02 installed it said National Soccer League and had the old NSL teams.

maybe you downloaded a special mod for it Munga?

5.05 patch is out now.

I couldnt find anything in my searches re: A-League. My game doesn't have it either..

But, Sigames have a history of releasing a number of patches for their games, so It wouldnt surprise me

Maybe the league wasn't included in the patch because they think it is a good way they can get people to go and buy the game with the new data. :(

All I know is that my game includes the A league, I don't know about the 100% legitimacy of the players as I am not really 'in the know' when it comes to soccer but the teams are there.

Yep mines patched to 5.0.5. Like someone has said before, its got everything up to date to January I think? Yes the A-League, yes the Victory, and the players they had signed up to then (about 10 or so).

I ended up 8th after the first season with Pompey. Needless to say fans and board alike were happy. Only drew 2 games for the whole season I think.

ok thnx for the info Munga. i cbf installing it, i have 5.02 n its doin me fine for the moment. im Inter a couple of seasons in and ive made some nice signings, Ronaldinho, Rooney, Lampard for a couple :) although out of all these stars my best preformer has been Crespo who kicked the most goals in the league last year, totally overshadowed Adriano who had an on and off year. Crespo got most of his goals as headers from pin point crosses from guys like Gonzalas, Delgado (got him), Martins, Cruz and Kewell(aint i patriotic)

whats better Football Manager or Championship Manager

I haven't played Championship Manager but the general feeling going around in the internet reviews is that Football Manager is better.

Football Manager is made by sigames who actually developed the Championship Manager games.

Championship Manager is actually made by Eidos, who published the old games..

They split for some reason.. SEGA picked up sigames..

Football Manager is a great game though. I wouldnt take my word for it, check out sites such as www.gamefaqs.com to further review,

championship manager is not as good as FM 2005 in all areas except speed where it is apparently faster with loading times (probably cos it has less to load cos it isnt as good)

My game doesn't have A-League but that might be because i havent started a new game since i got the patch.
I play with Tottenham Hotspur and In my first 3 seasons this is what happened:
1. Won the EPL and FA Cup
2. Won the EPL, FA Cup and Euro Champs League
3. Won the EPL, FA Cup, League Cup, Champs Cup and the World Club Champs.

Tottenham have a pretty respectable transfer budget at the start and if you can sell a few players such as Keane for a bit of dosh as well as cutting the old but high wage players such as Redknapp and others.

Spurs have some very good players to begin with, Defoe and King are easily worth 15mil plus. Robinson is worth around 10mill as a goalkeeper. Kanoute is a bench specialist and always scores off the bench. Gardner, Pamarot and Edman are very good defenders. Ricketts can be great with a good training program.

I was able to turn around the club finances to the point that Tottenham were rich and given 30mill budgets each year.
My tactics and training schedule which i got from the net seem to help alot as seemingly average players become superstars.
Here was my team: I use a 4-1-3-2 set up thats 1 DMC and 3 MC's with the two outside MCs with the arrows pointed the the AML and AMR positions.

P.Robinson

E.Edman - L.King(c) - A.Gardner/V.Kompany (about 5mil) - N.Pamarot

C.Benjamin (free transfer needed a DMC turned out good)

R.Ricketts (Euro midfielder of the year) - P.Mendes - J.Jenas (free transfer)

Robinho, J.Defoe

--M.Brown is also a gun at any midfield position in my game and Davies and Carrick are good back up. I got a good young kid from Paraguay called Enzo Giovani Scorza at 16 for 400k and becomes very good.

I got a bit sick of everything going so perfect that I got the manager job with Real Madrid. I know that they might be easy but it will be fun to see if i can dominate the competition. Also by that time Real Madrid were aging badly so it would be a bit of a challenge to start a new era.
I might start again if that gets tiring to try and bring Leeds or West Ham back up.

i might have to go buy this game, i loved all the old Champ Man games

i never ever start off as a Man Utd or Real Madrid though... i always pick one of the crappiest teams in the lowest league of a nation and work my way up.. takes a bloody long time sometimes but when you make it to the top (if you do) then its much more enjoyable

Inspired by the thread, I started a game as Bolton.

First season, finished 7th. No transfer money because the board chipped in 4mill to stop the club going into receivership. Picked up Guerrero (Racing), Otsemobor (Liverpool) and Zickler (Bayern) on frees at the end of season.

Second season I had 20 mill in the bank and they would only give me 250,000 for transfers which I used to pick up a few youngsters from Portugal/Sweden that my scouts found. I went through the Euro Vase (Blackburn and Aston Villa won the cups) and into the UEFA cup. KOd by Deportivo in the quarters and finished 8th in the league. Had Bruggink and Boateng coming in on frees.

Start of the third season. 30 million in the bank and they only give me 1.5mill until "I prove myself as a manager" as well as cutting my wage budget from 320k to 270k a weeks. I resigned.

Bolton picked up Glenn Hoddle  as my replacement and I ended up at Norwich who, after 20 games, were struggling away in the relegation zone of the championship. They had sold all there decent players, except Ashton, and were using fullbacks as centre backs and u-18 players in the midfield. I loaned a midfield and bought a couple of central defenders and worked my way up to 10th by the end of the season. After trying just about every player on the transfer list, none want to come to Norwich!, I signed Koumas, Hugo Viana, Tommy Miller, Anton Ferdinand amongst a few others to start my promotion campaign that is going to be severely hindered by a wage budget of 100k.

Bolton ended up finishing 17th and Hoddle didn't see out the season :D

Try using a tactic you made yourself it is far more satisfying and challenging. Tactics off the net are too easy. But good for beginners.

after winning consecutive premier league titles, plus 2 league cups and an fa cup win, and two champs league final appearances in the past two years, i got sacked by liverpool!!!! the reason was my staff didnt like me, leading to apparent "poor performance"!!! bastards!!!! ive now taken over as southhampton manager, having to start all over again, after getting adriano, torres, essien, baptista, and defoe on frees at liverpool!

a tip for starters is to get tomas hubschman, he gets awesome and u can get him at the start for 5 mil. plus freddy guarin for 2 mil. great buys! and obviously get freddy adu

I am still playing as Pompey.. 8th again

Real Madrid have spent 124 mill in two seasons
Recouped 30 mill in the same time

:S

Chelsea spent 162 mill
Recouped 85 mill

went chelsea still in my first season only play it a couple of times a week.

IN'S :
Freddy Adu 250k or something around that will be a bargain i can tell

Obafemi Martins 22m overspent i think could of bought rooney for that much has scored in important CL games but sucks ******** in the league cant get a game ahead of drogba and carlton cole.

Vincent Kompany 8m : gun defender has made william gallas and ricardo carvallho hand in transfer requests.

Neville Southall 10k: bought him as a joke is retiring at the end of the season will probably give him a retiremant game at some point.

Jermaine Pennant 9m : was starring for arsenal so i stole him off them and use him off the bench not a bad player.

Jermaine Jenas 20m: waste of money is absoloutely useless, injured in first game came back and got sent off.

Aykel Fatih 2m: bought him for 2 million and released him 2 months later dont even bother asking why.

Anton Ferdinand 5m: only played 2 games and hasnt done too bad in either of them one for the future.. possibly replacing makelele when he retires
OUTS:

Mateja Kezman, Eidur Gudjohnsen, Hernan Crespo, Carlo Cudicini, Alexi Smertin, Juan Veron, William Gallas

Starting Line Up

Cech (gk)
Bridge (LB) Terry(CB) Kompany(CB) Johnson(RB)

Robben (LM) Lampard(CM) Makelele(DM) Jenas/Pennant(RM)

Drogba(S) C.Cole(S)

SUBS:
Makaba Makalamby (GK)
Cole(CM)
DUFF(LM)
MARTINS(S)
FERDINAND(D)

so far my season has been shocking i started it off thinkin my team would breeze through the season but i was wrong and after 6 games was sitting in the drop zone with my job in danger. i changed everything around disciplining players, fining them for poor performance etc and have started to lift my game a bit with 15 games remaining im 6th in the table and fighting for a CL spot for next year i think i will be lucky to keep my job next season. Arsenal pretty much have the title in the bag, after being eliminated in the league cup by Arsenal it seems as though my best chance for success will be in the champions league which obafemi martins and didier drogba score at will and im really going well only dropping points in one game (which i lost 2-0 to ajax) have qualified for the next phase and am hoping to go all the way in that tournament to have any chance of keeping my job for next season. i really want to stay on with this club so i can see how the young stars i bought evolve
