And it was officially a sell outThe Gabba Saturday night NRL "Battle of Brisbane" game between Broncos & Dolphins crowd was 30,606.
Thats only 584 more than our Thursday evening Tigers game
How was the view do you know? That's the only reason I didn't go... That likelihood of being miles from the actual playing field.Met up with someone who was there today and he said it just felt weird.
But good atmosphere.

Don't like it when we get pumped up like this.Good all-round article on the Lions midfield from The Roar editor

Yep, this makes sense. He was behind the goal posts at one end and he said is was ok kind of, when the ball was at his end but when it was down the other, you could barely see anything.
He was down the lower level and the Gabba is raised up quite higher in the centre of the ground so when they were at the other end it made very hard for him to see anything.
Ever go to VFL Park?Yep, this makes sense.
I remember being at a final at the (old) Sydney Football Stadium against the Roosters. For those following along at home it's the game where Corey Oates swooped on a loose attempt to keep in a 40-20 kick to give us an unlikely lead inside the last 10 minutes... And then lose the game anyway in the ensuing moments.
Anyway we got tickets in like the 4th row from the fence... Which we thought was pretty good, until we actually got into the game and found out that the camber of the ground meant that we couldn't actually see anything when the ball was on the far side (opposite wing) of the ground. Well, we could see the players' heads and that was about it. Terrible experience... Legit every seat in the front 10 rows of that stadium should have been branded "restricted view".
I haven't been in the bottom tier of the new stadium there but the top tier seats are bloody sensational.

Footy Fix: Brisbane's midfield is even better than you thought - and it's not just Neale who tore the Tigers a new one
Stats can often flatter to deceive when it comes to AFL games, but sometimes, like in Brisbane's utter dismantling of Richmond at the Gabba,…www.theroar.com.au
Good article about Dunkley tagging the opposition best midfielder in centre bounces allowing Lachie to clean up.

Yep, to me it's as much his decision making as his execution. He's starting to understand better when he has time and when he doesn't. Impressive and exciting to see this development.I'm watching On the Couch at the moment and Garry Lyon mentioned that Will Ashcroft's performance this year is being undersold, one stat he highlighted is that 89% of his clearance disposals have been effective, which is ranked number 1 in the AFL.
To my eye his disposal by foot is also gradually improving... the disposal off his left foot to a leading Joe Daniher last Thursday night is one example, he's seems willing to take on a more nuanced kick over the last few weeks, gaining confidence.
nods he may have arrived as a 'ready made' player but he certainly didn't arrive at his ceiling ... showing the flexibility, awareness, and aptitude to do these kind of changes during your first year and all of 16 games into your career is awesomeYep, to me it's as much his decision making as his execution. Spot on, not scared of Port or Magpies away in a QF, we just have to get our best 22 to September in as good a shape as possible and we can win the whole shebang.Honestly a week one finals win away would be huge for the club and in many ways see that as the best possible way to push for a flag. The momentum going into a home prelim would be wild.
What gives me hope is that we've yet to hit our straps conclusively. Not so sure about the others.Spot on, not scared of Port or Magpies away in a QF, we just have to get our best 22 to September in as good a shape as possible and we can win the whole shebang.![]()
Yep, Magpies and Port have been in peak form for most of the season, very hard to sustain that through a full season. What gives me hope is that we've yet to hit our straps conclusively. Not so sure about the others.
Port have had a bit of luck with a few of their wins, they have had 2 kicks after the siren that have worked in their favour.Yep, Magpies and Port have been in peak form for most of the season, very hard to sustain that through a full season.
