Wont lie, it looked pretty cool on tv. At the ground it wouldn't have been that flash
Met up with someone who was there today and he said it just felt weird.
But good atmosphere.

The Gabba Saturday night NRL "Battle of Brisbane" game between Broncos & Dolphins crowd was 30,606.
Thats only 584 more than our Thursday evening Tigers game
And it was officially a sell out

How was the view do you know? That's the only reason I didn't go... That likelihood of being miles from the actual playing field.
He was behind the goal posts at one end and he said is was ok kind of, when the ball was at his end but when it was down the other, you could barely see anything.
He was down the lower level and the Gabba is raised up quite higher in the centre of the ground so when they were at the other end it made very hard for him to see anything.

Yep, this makes sense.

I remember being at a final at the (old) Sydney Football Stadium against the Roosters. For those following along at home it's the game where Corey Oates swooped on a loose attempt to keep in a 40-20 kick to give us an unlikely lead inside the last 10 minutes... And then lose the game anyway in the ensuing moments.

Anyway we got tickets in like the 4th row from the fence... Which we thought was pretty good, until we actually got into the game and found out that the camber of the ground meant that we couldn't actually see anything when the ball was on the far side (opposite wing) of the ground. Well, we could see the players' heads and that was about it. Terrible experience... Legit every seat in the front 10 rows of that stadium should have been branded "restricted view".

I haven't been in the bottom tier of the new stadium there but the top tier seats are bloody sensational.

Ever go to VFL Park?

Good article about Dunkley tagging the opposition best midfielder in centre bounces allowing Lachie to clean up.

We don't get as many breakaway mids streaming out of packs, likely influenced by Dunks. It was a huge problem last year due to personnel.

3. BRISBANE LIONS (11-4, 127.2%)

Remaining games

Round 17:
West Coast Eagles at the Gabba

Round 18: Melbourne at the MCG

Round 19: Geelong Cats at the Gabba

Round 20: Gold Coast Suns at Heritage Bank Stadium

Round 21: Fremantle at Optus Stadium

Round 22: Adelaide Crows at the Gabba

Round 23: Collingwood at Marvel Stadium

Round 24: St Kilda at the Gabba

Remaining fixture difficulty: Fourth-hardest

The Lions earned a healthy percentage boost in their shockingly brutal demolition of Richmond (and will get another next week), which should help them win a tiebreaker with Port Adelaide if they manage to catch the Power for their spot in the top two, as well as avoid any issues compared to Melbourne. Effectively still three games clear inside the top four, the Lions are close to securing their spot, but after Round 17 the fixture is full of stumbling blocks so they can’t rest yet. And they wouldn’t want to, because they know how much of a boost a home qualifying final would be to their premiership chances.

Fox Footy’s projection: 16 projected wins, finishing 3rd

I'm watching On the Couch at the moment and Garry Lyon mentioned that Will Ashcroft's performance this year is being undersold, one stat he highlighted is that 89% of his clearance disposals have been effective, which is ranked number 1 in the AFL.

To my eye his disposal by foot is also gradually improving... the disposal off his left foot to a leading Joe Daniher last Thursday night is one example, he's seems willing to take on a more nuanced kick over the last few weeks, gaining confidence.

Yep, to me it's as much his decision making as his execution. He's starting to understand better when he has time and when he doesn't. Impressive and exciting to see this development.

nods he may have arrived as a 'ready made' player but he certainly didn't arrive at his ceiling ... showing the flexibility, awareness, and aptitude to do these kind of changes during your first year and all of 16 games into your career is awesome :)

3. BRISBANE LIONS (11-4, 127.2%)

Last week’s ranking:
4

A mammoth win over the Tigers, combined with the Dees’ surprise loss to the Giants, has gifted the Lions a healthy two-game lead from fourth - though close games didn’t all go their way on the weekend because the Power snuck their way into remaining two games ahead. So, assuming Brisbane just keeps on getting the wins it should, they’re in a bit of no man’s land. They need Port to stumble if they’re going to nab a home qualifying final (or maybe Collingwood, but that’s less likely plus they’ve got a stronger percentage), and as long as they don’t stumble badly we can’t see them missing the top four entirely. All they can really do is keep winning, and building towards the finals - so maybe games like this Saturday are opportunities to try players in new roles and rest veterans who need the helping hand heading into September? After all, their season may come down to that qualifying final, whether it’s in Adelaide, Melbourne or Brisbane.

Next game: West Coast Eagles at the Gabba, Saturday early

Honestly a week one finals win away would be huge for the club and in many ways see that as the best possible way to push for a flag. The momentum going into a home prelim would be wild.

Spot on, not scared of Port or Magpies away in a QF, we just have to get our best 22 to September in as good a shape as possible and we can win the whole shebang.:trophy:

Yep, Magpies and Port have been in peak form for most of the season, very hard to sustain that through a full season.
Port have had a bit of luck with a few of their wins, they have had 2 kicks after the siren that have worked in their favour.

If Dunkley misses the Demons game that will give us a good idea how we are travelling. Hopefully he is good by then.
Did Answerths injury happen in the VFL or at training. I missed the VFL last week.
