Another good episode of Kick Ons this week, Lachie Neale the guest... great to have 2 decent Lions dedicated Podcasts now.
I think the boys are doing pretty well.

There is another pod called (Brisbane Lions Fancast) which is ok as well.

Probably better than the roar deal this week. Didn't really find Dom and Mike wanting to talk about microwave rice and Pepsi Max with Wilmot for 10 minutes too entertaining and he seemed to tire of it

Plus that social media guy really didn't seem too bright and seems to be everything wrong with the clubs fan engagement

Yep seemed a bit immature and had a straight out of a TAFE IT course vibe.

We need a bring back Josie Fielding thread. She was good.

i think you guys are bit too obsessed with the 'vicbias' thing in the media.

nearly all the panel shows and analysis are based in victoria. the figures on these shows are far more likely to have connections with people and journalists who have inside word on victorian clubs. 10/18 clubs are in victoria. most of the footy followers in the country follow a victorian team. of course the media is going to focus on these teams - thats who the vast majority of their viewers care about. i dont think its a concerted effort to keep harping on these teams and how good they are, but rather playing to what they know the listener wants to hear.

this is a bit mitigated for SA / WA teams who have papers and radio stations that are almost entirely dedicated to covering them, but still do not really get the tv coverage.

the interests of QLD and NSW teams will always be underrepresented and underplayed in the footy media. nothing wrong with that. in fact it can be a drawcard we continually use to lure players who dont want the attention a football state can bring like daniher

I think it's just discussion on a footy forum not obsession, we have to talk about something.

Just putting it out there, this place would be a lot easier to moderate if people didn't. ;)

I don’t believe you actually understand what Vic media bias is.

Most national sporting leagues around the world are just that, sporting leagues spread around a whole country.

There are natural pulls towards teams in big city markets, but there are very few sporting competitions where more than 50% of the entire competition exist in one state and city.

No one in New York calls the NBA, NFL or MLB “our sport”.

No one in London calls the EPL “our sport”. British media call’s football “our game”, but you don’t get such bias media talking heads when talking about the World Cup. It’s referred to as the World Game.

Where as the Vic media calls the AFL “our game”, as in the “Victorian” game.

You don’t hear in any other sport, media pundits talking about bringing “our” boys home, when discussing trades.

You don’t hear anyone on ESPN NBA talk about a strong New York Knicks and New Jersey are good for the competition.

I forget who it was in Melbourne recently who said, “it’s good to have the Vic teams dominating the top 8”, but it was said.

Caro going on about Gather Round is perfect in SA because SA is central to the AFL competition, because it’s easy enough for Vic families to drive to SA to enjoy Gather Round, but the idea of driving across the Nullarbor to WA is just too far and not realistic for Victorian fans and families.

The most interesting on Classified were the stats on Paul Connor managed players.
Apparently his philosophy is that if drafted interstate they give the interstate Club about half their career and then come home.Cited Judd and a few others.
Most instructive.Arguably a reasonable compromise for those who don't settle in their new home but clearly something to watch out for

Just on this, whilst I agree, think about it this way. You get to a Grand Final, you're in front of a crowd of 100,000, and you know millions more are watching on TV.

Do we really want a team full of players who don't really like attention?

Hi folks, a keeper league question if I may.
How far down the pecking order is Noah Answerth? Do you see him getting games soon?
Cheers.

Perhaps as a sub, but would probably need an injury otherwise.

I’ve heard Connors talk about this in interviews during past trade periods. He’s big on kids giving the club they are drafted to a proper go, but he also said at the end of the day he represents his clients, and follows their wishes.

Just my opinion, he’s been surpassed by younger players, and probably is just depth now. Fair chance he falls further down the depth list as other younger players develop.

But he is starting to play as forward mid in the reserves now, so maybe the club has identified a new future role for him.

Cheers. He's the one I'll let go as I have plenty of depth in defence and I'm bringing in a FF/FP.

Anzac Round - could have Anzacs playing half time games instead of Auskickers? Unpopular opinion?

Here's my unpopular opinion: shouldn't have an anzac commemoration before any games other than the anzac day game; teams shouldn't be allowed to have themed jumpers unless there is a committment to actually give 100% of profits to charities for veterans, as opposed to their usual token financial committment at best.

This world have the added benefit of ensuring the Lions don't have an ANZAC-themed jumper, which historically are... not our strongest work
