Continued in Part 2

Looks like the Dogs have gone full Collingwood. One player drink driving and breaking social distancing rules, another aiding siad player to flee the scene and a third harboring him and continuing to serve him alcohol. :drunk:

On the recent Roar Deal Podcast the boys threw out the idea of wearing lions gear on the day our games were
scheduled.

I’m going to do it and go for a walk hoping to run into other supporters. There’ll be chance of in-person talking to someone other than my family - I love my family but we’ve had way too much time together.

Might even fly the flag in the front porch.

I always wear my Lions hat or training T-shirt when going for a walk.

There’s a couple of other Lions supporters I see on my walks.

I have seen a large amount of kids in our area out in Lions gear. And a few of their parents too.
Couldn’t say whether it’s been game day or not, but it’s still good to see.

Justin Leppitsch was a good defender in a great team but... (IN MY OPINION :p) I don't think he is the best defender we have had in the 21st century so far as written by Mitch Clearly on afl.com.au.

I think the likes of Patful or Merrett are equal in their prime and more definitively I would rate Andrews better right now.

Maybe i have a soft spot for the other three, or value their contributions more because they have played more recently but I stand by it.

It's an interesting discussion though because there is still the likes of Mal Michael who factor in...

I assume you are quite a young person? Leppa was an out and out star defender. Paftul and Merrett are nowhere in the same league. Leppa and Jackovich are the best 2 defenders i've seen. Yep better than Scarlett and Rance.

I don’t think Merrett is even close to Leppa’s level. Leppa was just a better footballer, full stop.

Patfull had a couple of years at close to that level. It would have great to see him in a better side.

Prepared to wait on Andrews to see if he gets close to the Leppa level. He may well be in that conversation in 5 years time. He’s effectively played at All Australian level for a couple of years now and he’s still incredibly young.

The only Lions’ defender of this century that you’d put at the same level as Leppa was Johnno. I’d still pick Leppa first for his ability to play talk and small but both were the best player in their position in the comp for several years, which is a fair marker of excellence.

One of Leppas great attributes was his ability to kick goals from the backline. Will never forget the Leppa/Carey goal kicking comp one day at Docklands. Was lucky enough to be at the game down from Brissie for the weekend.

Who won?
Leppa/Carey?

I watched more footy post about 2005 when I moved to Victoria so have some recency bias but there were some times when Patfull was either low key effective or outright dominant for stretches of several games, over a few years. Interesting to hear Bob Murphy talk recently on his SEN show about Patfull 'pantsing' him a few times. One of my favourite ever lions.

We are all entitled to our opinion but ....:oops:

I remember we were down by 30 and kicked a point and Derm goes, "handy point"

Browny has challenged Fages to do one of those TikTok dance thingys.......we must watch out for that one, would be priceless to see!!:D

Heard JB on the FoxFooty Live show after watching Bucks and Simon Goodwin do their dances with their kids.

Leppa was an outstanding player because he was so versatile . Could mark, run and kick ,plus play tough . Plus turn games with his run and bouncing the ball. He would have been incredible in today's game , throw him forward or back. I don't think any of the players mentioned were up there yet. Andrews is a different style of player who relies on his height ,judgement and agility.

He's certainly the best Lions defender since Pert and Roos. Pert was probably the best I've seen before he got injured. He was so good Sheedy started him at Full back for the Vics kicking against the wind and then put him at full forward in the second quarter when they had the wind. I really don't think Leppa was as good as Pert or Roos, just not quite as skillful or dominant , but can't think of anyone else in their class.
