A very creative footy fan has mocked up what every AFL club’s jerseys could look like if they instead played soccer.

Brisbane Lions - The designer says: “The kit colours bear striking resemblance to FC Barcelona so I decided to pay a little homage to them.”

The maroon is a little too brown for me, otherwise it’s pretty standard. Not keen on the away design. Wondering if there’s something more Fitzroy they could have done with the away kit.

I really liked St Kilda’s away kit design.

Don't mind the look of them. I think Lionel Messi would have had a fair skill level if he played Aussie Rules, maybe we could get him for a year or 2 as a Category B international rookie.

Found this old article from a couple of years back. Both sad and funny in parts. I had never heard of this fellow before, pity he had to endure racism and it didn't work for him in the end. Also reminded me how much I love that particular shade of maroon.

and then I read on and Lachie Neale is leading the assisted metres gained (though they don't specify here if it is assisted effective meters gained*.. as they did for the earlier stat i guess not effective.. oh well)


I choose to read these stats with bias and accept they are the golden stats that prove eliteness. Well done Lions!

I've been wondering about that assisted metres gained for years. Very important for inside mids. Frustrating how many stats like that are hidden
