So the words going Schache was tried as defender later this game, how did he go? Chance to play that in the first soon?
Played in defence 3rd quarter against the wind. Took a bunch of uncontested marks. He's never gonna make it as an AFL forward but I saw a bit of Lever in him today.
They should persist.
Sounds like it was only for a while in the third quarter when we were defending against the wind. Glad they had a look though.

Schache went back in Q3 and had 2 intercept marks (1 contested), 3 disposals, and 1 spoil.

Oddball, leftfield observation from the game:
If this was an U18 National Competition game and as a recruiter you were looking for a tall forward talent, you'd be mad to select Jamarra over Schache.
I know it's a throwaway comment but from Josh's point of view you'd certainly hope so. He has 5-6 years of additional development.

Agreed. Schache is 5 years older and should by now have the understanding what it takes to be an AFL footballer. Jamarra has lost a year of development before he was drafted and has next to no idea what it actually takes to be an AFL player as of right now. I think the comment above is a bit unfair.

I admit to being disappointed with Jamarra so far though. I never expected him to be destroying games, but I don't think his head is in the game to start with. He got a serve at quarter time and rightly so. It's encouraging to see him improve as the game went on though.

Haha very nice! You don't hear much Harry Belafonte these days :)

Smart decision, the nsw VFL teams are already using Stand Alone VFL players to fill their numbers

With NSW going into a harder lockdown, no point in stretching more clubs resources

Have I missed something? Why is there no VFL squad posted on WB website?

Footscray has submitted an extended squad ahead of Sunday’s match against the Sydney Swans at VU Whitten Oval.

17 AFL-listed players have been included, including Patrick Lipinski and Toby McLean.

The squad will be trimmed to a team of 22 players and four emergencies ahead of the first bounce on Sunday morning.

The game will be the first of a Bulldogs-Swans double-header, with the AFL sides to do battle at 3.20pm at Marvel Stadium.

The match will be broadcast via Kayo Freebies, with play-by-play updates also available via @FootscrayVFL on Twitter.

Patrons will need to pre-purchase tickets, with crowds capped at 1000 people as per current Victorian Government restrictions.

To gain entry to VU Whitten Oval, spectators will be required to scan in using the Government QR code upon arrival. Gates will open at 10am.

All VFL games at VU Whitten Oval are run in accordance with the Victorian Government COVIDSafe Plan.

Footscray VFL listed players didn't make the trip to Gold Coast

So Bulldogs vs Gold Coast will be rescheduled till round 17

Both teams will have a bye this round

Yet another disruption to the VFL season. We're half way through July and we've played only 9 games, some teams have only played 8. It's becoming a real challenge for second level players to maintain match fitness and the mental frustration must be growing. Depressing for all concerned. On the other hand, the spirit must still be high amongst our boys to have come back from an impossible situation last round.
