No, it wouldn't. White would have gotten tha ball, beaten two tacklers and bombed through the winner before winning the ruck contest and pinning the ball in the Swans forward 50 for the nexst 60 seconds.

Prove the scenario of the Kangas winning is more likely than mine.
dont encourage him!
hes just being sour

The ball goes into thin air where Jolly would have been, Simpson who was attempting to man Jolly up, gets the ball, and puts it into the F50.

That's truth, compared to your fiction.

Really? How? How is your foretelling of events any more accurate than mine? Have you been hiding your gift of foresight from me, you sly dog?:p

Yeah, it's a mistake. However, when the mistake is as big as this, it deserves punishment. Obviously, it's been handed out, and again, not what I wanted, but it's done.

another poster, the very wise DST, has already pointed out precedents had been set before this incident
however you want to measure the "badness" of it this time, you can't suddenly impose a different kind of penalty
it's the same with what many people wanted to do to barry hall, ie, start his suspension when his injured wrist was healed and he was fit to play
you cannot simply change the system of penalties because the media outcry is louder from one particular incident to the next

in fact, adrian anderson has actually created another rod for the afl's back by saying all clubs were now "on notice"
instead of saying "the next club that breaks this rule will have points deducted"
although that kind of wishy-washy statement is hardly new from the afl

I am really confused now. I thought Jolly's unfair 19th man status meant he was completely unmanned because his man was covering White, loitering on the wing. So what you're really saying is that Simpson was slacking by not covering his "real" man.

The Swans were so much all over North in the last 10 minutes that anything could have happened if that passage of play didn't pan out as it actually did.

Well ... if the interchange was about to occur.. I would assume White would be standing in the interchange gate rather than sitting on the bench.

Okay then 1 + 3 = 4 - very bad mistake and extremely lucky to get off with a fine - unforgivable mistake really - imagine if it was a Final; teams could sneak a player on for the last few seconds and what - cough up a few dollars 3 days later - sorry - I like the Swans but this was just plain stupidity.

That is exactly what he should say and write it in the rules tonight..........

SO WHY ARE YOU ON OURBOARD?

it actually feels like open season on sydney at the moment

Let's be brutally honest.

This isn't going to go away overnight. This is here to stay for the entire 2008 season.

Sydney make the top 8, top 4 or get a home final because of two points or a few percentage points, and those disadvantaged by it will be screaming blue bloody murder.

The AFL would have done you a bigger favor by righting what was wrong and docking you the 2 points.

Tef, there's no point. All you get when you try to talk to them is a moron who TALKS IN CAPITALS and tells me TO GO WATCH THE VICTORY BECAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT FOOTBALL.

Ironic really.

I assume you are not directing this at me.

I have not been rude nor personal towards anyone.

My comments are totally football related.:thumbsu:

I'd have more time for the argument that the Swans should lose the points had the Roos not been aware of the error at the time. Laidley was reported as saying after the game (I've only read reports - not heard him directly) that he didn't think he'd ever enforce the point wiping option where he believed the mistake was inadvertent.

The rules of the game gave the Roos the opportunity to claim all four points. They chose not to apply the rules. But now you want the rules re-written retrospectively?

No mate it was directed at Rick18, we don't mind at all North supporters coming here and discussing opinions Footy related but we are really tired of the constant trolling and pot shots at our club, im sure you can understand when clowns go on your board and start the GC stuff, i hope we can salvage something and look forward to our next clash later on in the year.
