I've been noticing this for a while, that the Right-Wingers on this board tend to come from two clubs.

Hawthorn
---
Jane
Hawkforce
Medusala
Grendel
Ted Pelitts(when he posts)

and Melbourne
---------
Tim56
MillerCHF

I'm leaving agitator/noodnuts out of this for a while, because I don't know what club he supports, but anyway, on on.

When you look at the lefties on here, there's a huge variation in clubs.

Freo: Me, hoss, funkyfreo
West Coast: Mr Q, ah_19?
Sydney: CharlieG
Essendon: Mantis
Adelaide: DaveW
Collingwood: Lestat

That's just from memory. So anyway, can anyone from the Hawks or Demons explain why they appear to be rabid conservatives?

Hawthorn is a mixed bag. RogerC (where's he gone?), Dippers Donuts and Pessimistic lean left.

Also, I think you're confusing Ted Pelitts with Ted Pelitis.

Hard rightists:
Frodo (West Coast)
Ray Nolan (Port Adelaide)
Crudbucket (Collingwood I think)

Moderate rightists:
Wicked Lester (Bulldogs)
Mead (West Coast)

I don't think you can really point at any trends except that a high number of Hawthorn and Melbourne fans are right-wing. Which, when you look at Melbourne demographics, shouldn't really surprise anyone.

BTW - am I officially a lefty now?

Geelong's a tough one to pick. I'm moderately left-leaning but there's quite a few righties around as well.

It should be no surprise considering Geelong's two federal seats have been one each to Labor and Liberal for years and years.

Since I'm a hard rightist, would I be an odd one out for a Swan or are there others among the red and white faithful who've got the same cultural/social viewpoints as me???

Robbieando is a Liberal voter. If he reads this thread, I'll let him elaborate on that.

NMWBloods is probably centre-right. Not so far the wrong way as you, though...;) I have hope for Nick - I think you sound a little beyond help, sadly... :(

BTW - there is left, and there is centre-left. DaveW, AFC9798, Pazza, Appleyard and Hoss are the main centre-leftists, based on what I've read here. Mr Q, BlueMark, Mightyfighting and a couple of others are the hard leftists. I don't really try to label myself - if I did it would be probably be on the border between social democrat and democratic socialist, and where they sit along the spectrum depends on your point of view.

Hard leftist am I? Ok, but I don't own any silhouettes of Che Guivara.

How am I 'rabid' right-wing? There's a view of some on the 'left' to be 'centerist'. Why cant there be a centerist 'right'? Why are we all labelled 'rabid'?

If MightyFighting owns up to err.. now owning a Che poster, I'll own up to not owning a Thatcher one. :p

I've used the term 'hard leftist' to refer to people who have almost constant left-wing positions. I think you fit that. It's not a reference to revolution or communism... if you disagree on where you fit on the spectrum, all good. I'm not going to try and tell you what you are; you know that better than I do.

I've used the term 'centre-leftist' to refer to people who usually have left-wing positions.

Similarly, my distinction between 'moderate rightists' and 'hard rightists' (moderate's pretty much the same thing as 'centre') is based on the same things.

I offended by this, I am a rabid demon supporter and lean left in politics. Okay miller and tim are RW ratbags but generally demon supporters are split down the middle. Hawthorn are a different kettle of fish, a survey was done earlier in the year exactly on this topic and 96% of glenfairies are rabid right-wing ratbags
