I offended by this, I am a rabid demon supporter and lean left in politics. Okay miller and tim are RW ratbags but generally demon supporters are split down the middle. Hawthorn are a different kettle of fish, a survey was done earlier in the year exactly on this topic and 96% of glenfairies are rabid right-wing ratbags

apolitical Essendon. It's why Justin Madden had to leave. He was political. You look at the number of politicians that have played league football. Carlton is right up there. And fremantle. Essendon doesn't do politics. they kick the ball Long to Lloyd. You may have Hird that already.

Seems surprising then that the Docker supporters wouldn't do likewise...
Rather remain true to myself, and roll with the bad times when they come. Victory in anything will be all the sweeter when it happens.

Who says I'm doing anything different? Seen eight flags 'in the flesh' so to speak. The 'now' is transient. Given circumstances of some supporters over the same period, I'm so far in front it'd be a crime to complain about it.

Was there when we were winning. Been there while we've been losing. I'll stick true to myself as well thanks Hoss.

I can't remember exactly what it was but it was at the start of the year and it was regarding football supporters and their political orientations, Melbourne supporters were 50-50 but Hawthorns supporters were 96% towards conservatives

68% more likely than the average person to be earning $70,000 or more per annum;
11% more likely than average to currently drive a 4-wheel-drive vehicle;
21% more likely to own their home;
69% more likely to read the business section of the newspaper.

Oh and that bit's from what Melbourne supporters are likely to be. That last bit with the business reading part.. aren't business people a supposed largish % of the Lib vote?

96%.. where was the survey held? The HFC Liberal party annual get together?.. Where is one of mantis smilie things when I need it (I'd use it but she'd probably sue for infringment of copyright or somesuch).

I suspect the strong links between the Democrats and SA, explains the top one?

I answered "all of the above". Might have to change my footy team. ;)

Hawthorn has a lot of supporters in the eastern suburbs. So in other words, all those seats that fell to Bracks at the last state election, but have also stayed with Howard.

I don't think I'm 'hard-right', I would describe myself as centre-right, I'm actually fairly liberal on quite a few social issues.

Do you have examples? I must have overlooked them, or forgotten them. I haven't seen you have a liberal attitude to just about anything...

Tim - on the scale that I've used, you'd be centre-right.

Well to give a couple of examples I'm pro-choice, I'm pro-gay rights & same sex marriage, my preference is for the support of public education over private education (I just think the way the ALP try to achieve this is ridiculous because they turn it into an issue of class warfare), I think we should give more developmental aid to foreign countries (provided we have room for it in the budget of course) having lived in the third world I've seen the good it does. Your problem is you haven't asked the right questions and just wish to pigeonhole people under certain labels. The right is a broad church, there are a whole raft of views out there. On some issues I'm liberal on others I'm a conservative hard liner.

I live in the Chisholm electorate which is the electorate east of the Hawthorn one.For some reason this electorate returned the ALP encumbent with an increasedmajority.Not really sure why or how but I thought it a little unusual.

BTW you can put me down as hard right economically,centre left for other issues.-Tiges supporter.
