Far be it from me to tell The Dockers what to do, but the smart money HAS to be on Justin Longmuir becoming the next coach.

The real reason Ross Lyon had to go was financial. Fremantle was looking at seriously waning membership numbers and Lyon is not exactly the kind of person to inspire the next generation of fans to sign up. Longmuir on the other hand is a perfect fit. Young. Smart. Funny.

Those who think Peter Sumich will get the crowd back through the doors are kidding themselves.

Also, the top brass is seriously concerned how quickly the Dockers mob could turn on Suma if the season starts badly.

I’m hearing the race to replace chief executive Steve Rosich is going to come down to two men: Scott Gooch and Brad Lloyd. Gooch once played for Subiaco in the WAFL, has worked for the Eagles, has been the CEO of Perth Glory and is currently the chief commercial officer of the Dockers.

Lloyd (the brother of three-time Coleman medallist Matthew) is currently the head of football at Carlton. Before that he was with the Dockers for more than a decade, having joined the club as national recruiting manager at the start of 2008.

Gooch also was on our list for a while but did his knee playing for Subiaco and was delisted.

Have this feeling we're going to go into 2020 with a rookie coach, which is fine, but with absolute jack sh** support around him and quite possible a list manager that still has no idea what he's doing either. All this on top of a new CEO and a GM who is in their own words learning on the job :$ 😭
