I don't care if he is cutting oranges, boot studding or coaching. The place will be better with him in it. Not saying he is fix all, but his attitude and ability to communicate across the coaching/player platform will be good and of benefit to all Cats players - old and new. Excellent news…. smithers…..

Love the news! Lingy is back woohoo!

Only thing which I'm kind of confused about is that they said the new Strength & Conditioning guy from the Wallabies has been setting up the training program for the last 4 weeks...So why not announce it 4 weeks ago? o_O

Lots of Rugby experience. At a guess the need for high power bursts and repeat efforts with a big build is useful, but the fitness base to handle all the running AFL has is an area I thought we lacked most. Hope these appointments are good but would liked to have seen more endurance experience.

Have the Wallabies won much in the last few years? I know nothing about that game.

...well that tempers my excitement somewhat.

They've been shit, though, because they lack any skill what so ever (apart from Izzy)

Not sure it has anything to do with their fitness capabilities

Very happy with all those appointments, but particularly the return of favorite son, Cameron Ling. Even if he only devotes an hour a week to the club, he is where he belongs.

I wouldn't worry, I don't think it's a fitness issue that has seen the Wallabies fall badly in recent years. More like a lack of talented players compared to NZ & SA.

"The Cats 2011 premiership captain Cameron Ling will take up a role as an off-field player development consultant, working mainly with the club's senior players on a needs basis," the Cats' statement said.

Seriously - what does this even mean?

"Hey, Lingy - SJ here. Hey, I think I should be on Talking Footy at least once next year. Any chance, you know, when you get the time, to have a word to your mate at Foxtel?"

"Yeah, sure mate, sure. Leave it with me, I'll get it sorted. Anything else?"

"Well, me and Tommy, we've been thinking of maybe proposing a golf show to Fox Sports..."

"Go on mate, I'm listening - they're paying me to listen now, can you believe it?"

"Yeah - the old boys here think it's hilarious. Anyways - the golf show. To help our off-field development, we want to propose a golf show where Tommy and I travel around the world's most beautiful courses, and you know, play golf, crack jokes, lark around and talk a bit of footy."

"Maaaate, that sounds fantastic. Again, leave it with me. I'll see what I can do."

"Thanks mate."

"No problems, mate. See ya Sat'day."

Off topic, but its what happens when Rugby Union is the 4th football code in the country
