They've been shit, though, because they lack any skill what so ever (apart from Izzy)

Not sure it has anything to do with their fitness capabilities
I wouldn't worry, I don't think it's a fitness issue that has seen the Wallabies fall badly in recent years. More like a lack of talented players compared to NZ & SA.

Why you copy me fo? Haha ;)

This is what caught my interest:

Damian Raper will add his expertise to the medical unit as physiotherapist. Raper was previously the rehabilitation co-ordinator at Essendon and spent a year with the Australian Institute of Sport.

When, exactly? A connection with Knights, maybe?

Wouldn't be too excited about Lingy's role. Looks like he's just going to drop by occasionally on his way to 7.
yeah, you're right. It's only on a needs basis so he may have little impact on the club. But I like it because it's a foot in the door, and who knows when he decides to give coaching a go it might help lure him home. I can dream.

The lingy thing is just about getting a foot in the door. Hes alrdy said he wants to do a media gig as his main focus but this way we can at least keep ties with him and keep him close to home. That way should he ever change his mind at all we're the team holding all the cards. Great move.

Needs to change his surname

Interesting with the rugby move, I've thought for some time (correct me if I'm wrong) since Weapon left our club, fitness wise we have struggled. Don't seem as strong through the core and hips as we did before and fall to ground a lot easier.

It seems we run out of puff in the second half of the year (2nd half games we all know to well) and are exhausted come finals time 3 years in a row.

Hopefully he will help change this.

"The Cats 2011 premiership captain Cameron Ling will take up a role as an off-field player development consultant, working mainly with the club's senior players on a needs basis," the Cats' statement said.

Seriously - what does this even mean?

"Hey, Lingy - SJ here. Hey, I think I should be on Talking Footy at least once next year. Any chance, you know, when you get the time, to have a word to your mate at Foxtel?"

"Yeah, sure mate, sure. Leave it with me, I'll get it sorted. Anything else?"

"Well, me and Tommy, we've been thinking of maybe proposing a golf show to Fox Sports..."

"Go on mate, I'm listening - they're paying me to listen now, can you believe it?"

"Yeah - the old boys here think it's hilarious. Anyways - the golf show. To help our off-field development, we want to propose a golf show where Tommy and I travel around the world's most beautiful courses, and you know, play golf, crack jokes, lark around and talk a bit of footy."

"Maaaate, that sounds fantastic. Again, leave it with me. I'll see what I can do."

"Thanks mate."

"No problems, mate. See ya Sat'day."
When does this golfing show start I like the sound of it?

I expect that the 'on a needs basis' will work both ways i.e. when a player needs to talk with him it can take place but also when the club need a player to be spoken to Lingy will be an excellent person to call on. This might involve a discussion with a senior player who's having difficulty with spending time in the VFL or even (after the coach/captain/football manager have done what is required) when the dreaded subject of forced retirement is causing grief.

Not sure about the appointment of exrugby trainer. On the surface it looks like we've hired another of Chris Scott's mates. Seems like he worked for Brisbane in their glory days. No doubt in those days they were a powerful unit that bullied sides. It would be good to avoid sides like freo just brushing aside our midfielders at clearances. However, the game has changed a lot since 2003 with a lot more two way running required. Another area we've been found wanting. I hope new guy can implement changes to address this. I guess we'll have to wait and see. On the positive side, the rehab guys seem like just the thing we need considering the type of players we recruit.

I think an increase in a little bit of strength would not be a bad thing as long as it is not at the compromise of running ability.

Fast gets slower thru a game but bigger does not get smaller.

Bastards, we stole Lingy fair and square

But in all seriousness, great appointments guys

Yeah you did…. and we counterpunched a year later and back he came!

Very happy to see him come back home - even if it is a very limited capacity. Any Lingy is better than no Lingy.
