I’m sure there will be one at some point before the season kicks off.

There normally is for Kayo with Telstra (post paid customers & sometimes 50% off) but nothing yet.

I took out 12 month Kayo through the Club last year & it expires next month.
It's now $350 and I paid for the same package $250 last year.

Would prefer month by month as I only watch Footy on Kayo and normally cancel after the footy season and take it up again in March.

Yeah they pioneered FNF and then when the other teams realised how lucrative it was North were banished from it. Not saying they should have a monopoly on it but they should get a few games a year.
I remember when in one season Carlton had 7 Friday night games and got the wooden spoon LoL.

I agree North Melbourne should have 1 or 2 Friday night games early in the season each year

It's a short term vision from the afl. Give all the bigger clubs games in prime time to boost the tv ratings and therefore tv money, but then you have to make up the difference down the line anyway, coz the small teams get smaller and the big teams even bigger.

So the AFL end up paying the bigger gap between the big and small outta their revenue. It's not really a smart way to do it.

If Foxtel is being sold, Telstra's part of revenue from Kayo goes down significantly (they are becoming a small shareholder in the buying company as part of the sale, so it won't be zero). Incentive for a deal to get people into both decreases as a result.

AFL deal includes Saturday nights after round 15. The state specific details only deal with the first 15 rounds.
That was the original deal. When the fixture was released the AFL/7/Fox noted that 7 would continue to show Thursday night games for the entire season in exchange for Fox continuing to get exclusive access to Saturdays.

Fox isnt getting exclusive access past round 8. And its announcement on February 10th doesnt say anything about it. Sevens announcement does however say they are doing 23 Thursdays, so maybe.

Fox exclusive on Saturdays all home and away season in Vic, Tas was the last I saw.

Tbf the fta coverage of AFL is pretty terrible. Or was pretty terrible. I haven't watched it on FTA in years apart from the grand final which still sucks in comparison to the fox footy coverage. I would rather pay for the better coverage than be held hostage to channel 7 playing the news at half time or starting games an hour or 2 late and putting on Harry's practice or better homes and gardens.

I don't know why Foxtel dosen't sell 7 the right to put on the Saturday arvo and Night games on a 1 hour delay. Useless to pretty much anyone who would subscribe to Kayo or Foxtel, but for more casual fans they wouldn't care and possibly not even notice.

Fox isnt getting exclusive access past round 8.

Fox has exclusive rights to live games nationwide for the first 8 rounds written into their contract. All the non-victorian teams games are on 7 but will be shown on delay in the first 8 rounds into their home states. From round 9 they can be shown live in their home states. This is what the 'exclusive access' for the first 8 rounds is. It's 'exclusive (live) access'. The 8 rounds thing has no relevance to Victoria, only the rest of the country.

Yes they are. Every single Saturday game in the Home & Away season is now a Foxtel exclusive game.

The only exceptions are that local teams games will still be on FTA in NSW, QLD, WA, SA regardless if they fall on a Saturday or not. Some of these games will be delayed on 7/7mate in the local market, some will be live.

yeah just re read the Fox and Seven announcements again .

Seven’s AFL match coverage in 2025 includes matches on 23 Thursday nights, 24 Friday nights, State Footy Saturdays, 25 Sunday afternoons, five Sunday nights, plus marquee games and every game in the Finals Series including – exclusive to Seven and 7plus Sport –the Brownlow Medal and the AFL Grand Final.
Thats a net difference of nothing from previous FTA coverage.

Fox Footy, available on Kayo Sports and Foxtel, will be the only place to watch live AFL on a Saturday in Victoria and Tasmania for every round of the home and away season, and nationally for the first eight rounds.

so yeah it is what it is I guess

Fox are getting exclusive rights to Saturday coz of this season's decision to play every Thursday night. I stated in a previous post I reckon this was a stitch up initially by the AFL for the deal to look better, but there was a handshake, wink wink, "we'll do Thursday night every round so you get exclusive Saturday access all year and 7 get the more prime time games when the deal rolls around, trust us".

No different to what I think happened with suddenly adding gather round after the deal was done, a whole 9 extra games for free or another handshake "we'll add extra content for you' done pre the deal signing.

The media are too dumb to pick up on this.

Seven also get a Sunday afternoon game every round (which wasn't previously the case) plus a few additional Sunday night games.

Yeah 7 prefer Sunday over Saturday coz it runs nicely into their news and sets up the week for them. Plus it typically rates better than Saturday.

As usual, blame FTA. Foxtel providing good coverage doesn't stop 7 from providing good coverage.

The coverage of both will improve because they're in direct competition now that fox has their own commentary team for each game.

I like what 7 have proposed with their new shows, they have a new head of sport that actually knows what he's doing, so it will be cool to see all their new shows across all 7 days a week.

Some people forgetting that Thursday nights came at the expense of Sundays. Theres no net change in FTA coverage. Saturday nights coverage was almost always multisplit between games, where Seven are now getting a national Thursday game - which is still likely to favour victorian supporters because Sevens national coverage tends to do so.
