It is a near certainty that footy will back in June probably mid to late in the month. Against all the naysayers especially on the bulldogs board (there were many the most vocal were D......h and S......y) that said it could not, will not, should not come back quoting a myriad of hypothetical reasons why there will be no footy. If you do not think they should be playing do not watch it.

I cannot wait to start yelling support for the boys and getting upset if play like we did in round 1. Watching the Bont and others strut there stuff talking about who should be in and out week to week, can we play finals ETC, ETC.

I know the community still needs to be careful get tested, get the covid app, behave responsible, wash your hands but FOOTY is coming back

Nice thread. Sure to get the libtards frothing at the mouth.

Had to consult google for the meaning of Libtard above my intellectual capacity. I note that the words troll and insult.

"Libtard is an insult usually used by conservative trolls online to characterize liberals as stupid".

Oh, I used to love nothing more than coming home from my shift as an elevator operator and sitting down to Wheel of Fortune with a nice cup of tea.

Can I buy a consonant OD?

You've got to admire the integrity and restraint he showed by not naming any names in the OP. Must have been so tempting.

If we've locked down the borders, how are we going to get a second wave FFS??
Hardly anybody is talking confidently about elimination of Covid19 yet, only about bringing it down to manageable levels and slowly easing off as testing ramps up. In that way we might be able to get the economy on its feet again and maybe even a small amount of socialising. Testing will be crucial. To pinch a phrase from another discipline: the price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

It's been estimated that in Australia we are picking up about 80-90% of actual cases. That's a pretty high level by international standards but it means there is probably some low level of undetected disease and maybe community transmission still happening.

People have already mentioned the outbreak at the abattoirs. Another example is here in the ACT. We'd had no new cases since Anzac Day over a week ago. Last week we had resolved all infections so we became the first jurisdiction to have no active cases. If we had gone another couple of weeks without new cases we might have been able to declare a small victory. However today there was another new case reported. Not surprisingly it was a person who'd been overseas but that was quite some time ago and she'd been in quarantine for two weeks, so all the right things were done. Authorities here are saying it's low risk of further transmission but it is a good illustration of how easily it could rebound, how the infection can remain active for a long time and how patient we have to be.

As you know, we only need one.

Um, hate to be a BO (opposite of Optimistic Bulldog/Dog) but apparently it's not coming back....hubs are out.

I think you are referring to comment form the Australian Sports medical officer hoping there will be no need for hubs. Unless something tests positive within the teams and there are no spikes in cases it is looking good. We do not need Daniel hiding of an the the name of the meat works who had an outbreak because they are a contributor to labour party coffers, this helps nobody.

Federal sports minister Richard Colbeck says the AFL season will be able to resume without quarantine hubs if Covid-19 cases continue to decline. There is growing optimism that the 2020 competition – which was put on hold in March after just one round – could resume by the end of June.

I was referring to your edited comment about the the meat processing plant. I’ve got no idea what’s happening with the footy.
