The pill.

I thought "pill" was a very old fashioned term for a ball while it is the subject of a game. I think you will find it in very early accounts of ball sports at English private schools from a couple of hundred years ago.

Donnybrook; a fight or melee. This comes from Donnybrook in Dublin where they used to have a boxing pavilion at their annual fair.

Never minded a good kick around of the aggott.

Especially when I extended the dukes before failing to slot one through the guts.

Also, has anyone listened to Triple M and listened to the Picioane, Headwobble and Cobra?

One I really hate is "from the paint", Dwayne Russell has alot to answer for.
Agreed.

'Shorts it' was already mentioned, but dont forget 'that's as good as you'll see/it gets' after every goal, and 'makes it someone elses problem' when a player doesnt hit a target/clears the footy.

Everything that sack spits out is rubbish.

Does 'BAAALLLLLLLL!' cut it?

I say the pill a lot because I grew up with it. Same reason I say fair dinkum.

Not to mention where 16 year old grubs from Ipswich crashed my car after stealing it last week.

shanked it/ sprayed it - A poor kick

Bruce's "arches his back" call makes me cringe everytime.

I always assumed laces out meant that the ball hit the target on the chest with the laces pointed away from him to avoid bruising.
Either way it's a testament to the surreal kicking qualities of the kicker, but I thought it was simply to do with the level of control - ie That the kicker chose to have the ball land that way (for an indiscriminate reason).

Don't mind these ones:
Hanger
Barrel
Coat hanger/clothes line
Helicopter (a kick that doesn't spin properly - see Sticks' last couple of years)

Maybe it's a local club variation on lace out but "hit him on the t*ts" seems to be quite popular. Maybe not so popular in woman's football.

Dislike these ones:
Hover (for a speccy - Dermie seems fond of this one)
Quarterback
Catch

Sells some candy (obv Candy not an Oz term though)
As the coodabeens said "How much do you get for a bit of candy on the footy field these days?"

"He's so strong through the hips" is one that makes my skin crawl when Bruce is commentating....Uggggghhhhhhh
