Footy Tragic's 2012 Phantom Draft

Yes.

For what it's worth, I don't think picking up Simpson makes us too outside heavy. Yet. I will say that it begins to take us out of balance though. Certainly on the path to being too outside reliant.

We have inside grunt with Rischitelli, Horsley, Hunt, Swallow, Broughton & Prestia. You can add Jaeger and Ablett to this list, though I'm unsure on how long each will be playing midfield in 2013. Few others that can also play this role, thought not as effectively.

Anyway, the point is, we certainly have fast outside players already. Too many to fit into the side, actually. I would have thought picking up someone like Garner with his x-factor, Corr as a developing KPD or even Stringer would have been better choices. But I ain't no list manager. ;)

I wouldn't worry. you have draft picks and zone selections coming out of your ears for years to come yet. Plenty of opportunity to fix any imbalance that may occur. If I didn't totally adore the Freo Dockers i might support the Suns. you almost have more WA players there then we have.:)

KP, what is the likelihood that Toumpas actually drops to Melbourne? Is there any truth in GWS passing him or is it all just media hyping up the draft?

It's looking very likely, and at the same time it's looking likely Toumpas could be a Bulldog.

Surely Melbourne won't pass on Toumpas, he's exactly the type of midfielder we need to compliment Viney. They must really like Wines.

Common sense says they take Toumpas, but we're talking about Melbourne here.

If Melbourne take Toumpas I can see Wines sliding.

I've followed _kp_ for years and his work is up there with the best around. He is unbiased and objective with his evaluations and where they will end up.

That's where his objectiveness ends and his hate for Essendon begins, hey mate :D

Great read as always :)
