Hi folks,

Apologies for the shameless self-promotion, but have seen a few discussions about footy podcasts on here and thought I might utilise the log-in admin gave me when I did a Q&A here a couple of years back and let you know about one I'm doing with my old SEN sparring partner Mark Fine.

We have two versions of Footyology, there's a Sunday night TV show which essentially reviews the round just completed and is available on my website https://www.footyology.com.au/, our YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo54HP4DC4zs0vfGHFeIOzA or my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/RohanConnollyAFL/. I tweet the link too on https://twitter.com/rohan_connolly. It's also available as an audio podcast on Whooshka. Our Thursday edition is audio only, from the Footyology website.

The TV version wraps up each game, we give our "Hot Or Not", and we both get a little bit stupid on the "Rant-Off". Thursday's podcast discusses the news of the week, "Media Watch" looks at various issues arising from the media coverage of AFL, and we preview each game of the upcoming round.

Am going to post today's episode, which has only just gone up online, in which we talk about Hawthorn's trial match with potential rule changes last weekend and back-slapping commentators. Last week's TV show, which we shot on Monday (because of Queen's Birthday game) is below it.

Keen for your feedback within reason (you can abuse me on Twitter if you must!), but anyway, love working with Finey, and hopefully this is contributing at least something to the footy media landscape. Hope you enjoy it.

Cheers,
Rohan

Rohan's one of the most informed, thoughtful footy journos going around. Even his Rant-off is quite reasonable.

Weekly bonus: watching Finey explain away St Kilda's latest humiliation.

I really enjoy the show guys, I guess the issue with all these types of things is they all follow a pretty similar format.

The only thing I will say is keep focusing on what makes you and Finey unique from the rest of the footy landscape.

There’s often a lot of common themes that come out of a round of footy but it become like group think. If you actually dig a little deeper and look at things from a different point of view and even take a devils advocate position you can often realise it’s not the correct interpretation or there are much more interesting ways to look at things.

Keep up the good work guys!

Checked it out today, enjoyed it. Now part of my subscribed podcast feed on my phone. :thumbsu:

Ignore advice to keep it shorter. Enjoy the rants.

Big time agreed with what you both said about commentary of AFL games. But instead of just BT, you needed to mention how terrible Basil Zempilas is and the awful catchphrase dispenser that is Dwayne Russell.

Hi everyone,

Our Round 13 episode of Footyology TV (posted below) has just gone up online, featuring a full review of all six games, our usual "Hot Or Not" where he select our personal highs and lows of the weekend's games, and the "Rant-Off", where Finey and I basically let rip in a manner hardly befitting two middle-aged men. Hope you enjoy it, and thanks for the feedback already provided.

Cheers,
Rohan

Hell no
Great work RoCo.
One thing - everyone hates the camera angles from the SCG.
The cameras are 3-4m off the ground in the ladies stand. The front of the ladies stand.

Not up high like all other grounds.

Why cant they install some scaffolding behind the stand with a platform so the cameras can be higher??
They do it for cameras when they play one off games at like darwin, alice springs, cairns, ballarat etc.
but not at SCG.

Please ask this question to SCG trust, broadcasters and the AFL.

Hi folks,

Just adding the latest Footyology podcast if you're interested, recorded Thursday 19th July. We're pretty happy with this one. Finey and I talk the Carlton rebuild, and the AFL rush towards dramatic rule changes.

Media Watch discusses that flare-up with a West Coast official and a cameraman, and we clear what actually did happen, and also when is an "exclusive" not really an exclusive.

And of course a full preview of a big Round 19.

Hope you like it. If you do (or even if you don't) any reviews on either iTunes or the Whooshka site much appreciated.

G'day everyone,

Just adding the latest Footyology Podcast, hot out of the studio! Finey and I discuss the ramifications of Gill McLachlan's latest thought bubble on those controversial rules changes, sorry, "game adjustments", "Media Watch" looks at "player access" and whether it's really such a big deal, we vow to "Never Again" and we preview every game in a big Round 19. Hope you enjoy it. PS. Any reviews at either Whooshkaa or iTunes most welcome.

Cheers,
Rohan
