Last year CH7 acknowledged that they got more than 10,000 complaints over lack of coverage of the Ansett Cup in Brisbane. They made some sort of lame statement that had they known, they would have shown it.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....... they have taken all that data on board and decided to once again NOT show the Ansett Cup!!!!

For any QLDers out there, or any footyfan who would like to see the growth of the game in Brisbane/QLD........

PLEASE CALL OR WRITE TO THE ABOVE DETAILS.....REQUESTING THE GAMES TO BE SHOWN!!

So what if it their last year of showing AFL, to piss ppl off too much would mean losing viewers in general to the rest of the shows on their station. Parts of QLD (ie the Gold Coast) get greater game coverage than Brisbane does. This is our chance to show em we want to see AFL on tv in Brisbane and other areas of the State.

Can you get his email details, as I think this would be a better way of protesting, they have no idea which state the emails are coming from that way. I know a lot of BF people flooded CH7 with emails last year, maybe if we can get everyone from BF, their family & friends to email him it might work. Cheers

Well that depends ODN - you aint going to get the 3rd March (or whatever it is) match live on tv.......

or any other of the Blues matches on tv - the Ansett Cup is non existant. Now if that townhouse complex you have has optusvision - you may get 4 or 5 matches live on week one of the ansett cup - according the schedule - but NOTHING on ch7. At the present - you won't even get midnight or later replays that you can video tape.

Actually, I have got a four bedroom house on a hill. The reception is great. We can only get Austar pay T.V but that has Fox Sports and C7. Have yet to fork out the big bucks for that though. I think Prime shows AFL matches more than Ch 7 does???

As for the Blues match at the Gabba not being telecast.....those bastards. Now how can I go to the game, make a spectacle of myself and rush home to watch the replay??? They are taking away my basic football rights!!!

I have a friend who lives on the coast and they get Channel 7 Brisbane as well as Prime. The coverage on prime is a lot better and is not always the same as Channel 7 Brisbane so you may get two different matches telecast on a Saturday afternoon. Prime also shows a lot of Ansett cup matches and the Brownlow live together with the Channel 7 Melbourne footy shows. My understanding of C7 on Austar is that you pay extra for it but do get all matches sometimes replayed 2 or 3 times during the week.
I suggest you get your video recorder serviced.

As for Channel 7 Brisbane they don't care about AFL football and have stated that no-one in Brisbane is interested in watching it.

Ring ch7 and ask to be put thru to the 'prime' programming dept. they may get more during the season proper - but forget the ansett cup - in network 7 QLD's eyes it don't exist.

He's already got one from me & a few more coming. I am new to the state what is the coverage during the season like ?
Also are there any decent sports bars where the game is on screens. I was here Grand Final day last year & when I went into 2 pubs & asked if the footy was on I was told it was last week! Watched it at the casino which had all the atmosphere of a morgue.

Go to the Lions club, or ring around the inner-city pubs. The more requests they get, the more likely they are to put it on.

The Pineapple Hotel is quite close to the Gabba and gets a large amount of passing trade from people after the matches. There is a perfect opportunity for the Pineapple Hotel to capitalise on these customers by playing matches on weekends, and advertising this service to the crowds who already drop in after games.

But then again, Aussie Rules doesn't exist in Queensland.
