I have noticed over the last few months that Brad Fisher is higly rated on this board. However I would just like to say apart from about 3-4 games he has rarely performed. I understand injuries do have an impact, but during all the the bad performances this year i.e Hawthorn, Collingwood and Richmond he provided absolutely nothing. I would like to know the thoughts of other posters as from what I have seen I believe the hype is bigger than what the player has produced.

he's a more than handy half forward flank or forward pocket.
if he can keep reasonably injury-free then he will be quite good. not a key position but better than most half-backs/back pockets he will come up against. mainly because he is terrific overhead and he decent speed. too bad about his kicking tho...

he was steal for a pick in the 70's. he is very good player don't worry about that. he reads the play well, he is courageous and he has the best hands at the club.

When he's had a few games back from injury, we really start to see what he's capable of. Unfortunately, that only seems to last for about 15 minutes right before he gets injured again. :(

It's frustrating, but he might just have one of those seasons in terms of injury and form. T-Bird had it last year. Waite the year before that. And now it seems to be Fisher's turn.

Not to worry though. He's young. His luck will change.

He kicked 13 goals in the 7 games he played last season (that's an average of just under 2 per game). He is never going to be a big goalkicker but any coach that underestimates him by not matching him up correctly will pay the price. That means not only does an opposition coach have to worry about getting the right match up on Fevola, Waite and even Kennedy but also Fisher. That's 4 quality defenders the opposition needs to find. Get the match up wrong on 1 or 2 of these guys and it could be costly for the opposition.

spot on i reckon. he is that one extra man that can make defending just too much of an ask for the opposition. on his own, he might never be a superstar, but as part of a combo he is beyond handy.

hes not a forward who is capable to kick 6+ goals in a game but he will always kick hes 1, 2 or 3 goals a game. a handy forward but no superstar. easily in our best 22

He rates highly for as well. Just needs some luck with his light body, his games back from the knee were more than could be expected:thumbsu:

At 192cm and probably over 8ft tall with those long arms extended he is extremely hard to match up on as he does 'play tall'. With key defenders going straight to Fev, Waite, now Kennedy and Whitnall if forward the Fish can really exploit an average or even good 3rd or 4th defender. He really gave us a start against the Bombers with some strong mark and hard leading, and while he does have a few games we'd like to forget he is generally quite good.
With a full injury free pre-season behind him and a handful of games in succession we could see the best of the Fish mid-season next year.

Exactly right and opposition sides underestimate just how tall he can play, if Fish can get a full year without injury, which should be not far away, he will be a great player and with that fitness base behind him he could easily push up on to a wing or even play midfield ala James Hird, i'm not saying he could be as good as Hird although taken at a similar position in the draft, but would be a very handy midfielder/forward and is better over his head than Hird was although not as handy below his knees as Hird still pretty agile for his size though. A player that can really make a difference at Carlton when up and about and certainly not overrated at all, look for him to really make a big splash next year or maybe even later this year if the football gods allow. Was always going to have hamstring trouble after his knee reco so i wasn't expecting much from him this year anyway, i just hope his hammy holds up when he comes back from his shoulder injury, but there is a good chance he will still have problems when he returns as it usually takes a while for the hamstring to stretch out again after being used as graft material for the knee, so expect him to struggle for the rest of the year and you won't be dissapointed.:thumbsu:

Makes it hard for backlines to match up on that many forwards. Fisher is probably the one that gets the least attention and that's a dangerous thing when you look at his marking ability. His kicking style is pretty dodgy though.
