Tim Fleming was just like that, very sad to see him go, wasn't a dud but didn't get a whole lot of the footy, loved the tough stuff in the end it was out of him and Shane Tuck to be delisted and unfortunatly it was Fleming. I think it would definetly still be a justified decision too.PROBABLY the epitome of what has been wrong with our great club in the past 20 years.
The only guys with any "grunt and that bit of mongrel" in them are our smaller guys, like Weightman, Free, Powell and Foley.
Ohh to have had a big guy who could show the way!!

Loved how earlier in the season someone at the club mentioned that young kids drafted who were going to be delisted and had never played a game were often given one as a 'reward' for their service. End of the season McGrath got a game in i think it was round 21 and kicked an absolute bag of goals, no rising star nomination despite their being no other standout performance for the round IIRC, played in round 22 then delisted without a blink. Makes me laugh still...seemed like everyone knew he was gone and they comes out and does that

he was gotten rid of because of discipline reasons. on form that game alone would have been enough to get him one more year but did not meet the standards off the field to be an AFL footballer. played a year at north ballarat but failed to show up to training and sometimes even games so went home to WA.

Mick Pickering was a friend of the family and I played junior footy with him. He has 2 younger brothers, I always wondered when this Justin made the team, whether it was his brother, I couldn't remember his brothers' names, is this his brother?

Cheers...was overseas without internet so didn't know much about Justin playing for us. Must have been another one of the guys who had good skills, but got more opportunities because of the name.
His brother Mick was not a standout junior, socks down, played on the half back...solid, with good hands as I remember though......way back in under 13's!!

Not sure the internet existed when Michael and Justin played for Richmond.
Mid 80's to early 90's, from memory.
Mick is the same age as me, and I think Justin was the youngest of the 3 brothers and so would have been about 20 maybe in 1990, so you could be right...but anyway, about when I left for o'seas and completely lost all contact with the football world until the internet finally did come to the rescue.
Does anyone know if Mick does still frequent the social club? Wouldn't mind catching up with him when I come through Melb in July? Last time I saw him was actually at Punt Rd back in around 1990 before I left. Top bloke.

ashley burton lol... he didn't do to good at tigerland at all... showed a lot of promise. Pat Steinfort we showed a lot of patience with him but he never prevailed bit unfortunate. Mathew Dundas lol... NO COMMENT
