Whatever happened to:
* Devon Malcolm - he got a '9 for' against South Africa in one test but seemed to fade away in the mid 90s... did he retire or get the boot?

* Phil Defraitis (sp?)

* Chris Lewis (the english cricketer, not the former Eagle)

Devon Malcom took 8 for in a county game last week, Defraitis is also still playing county and Lewis I'm not sure about, I have not seen his name but I know he played last year. So Dev and Phil by rights would both still be available, though both would be closing in on 40 years of age.

Devon Malcolm, or Malcolm Devon as one English chairman of selectors referred to him, did pick up 8 for a week or so ago. He is still as useless as he ever was, so alas, no chance of an ashes recall. Dipper may know the truth in this story, but apparently the same CoS (Ted Dexter I think) was frantically calling his fellow selectors after discovering the greatest English fast bowler since Fred Trueman. The bloke turned out to be Courtney bowling for Gloucestershire!

I think deFreitas retired a year or so ago, but I'm not a follower of his career, so he may be still trundling away. Lewis got the Big A from Leics I think, after claiming a bookie told him a few poms were on the take. I remember him at Surrey a couple of years ago making a goose of himself.

Tuffers is still trundling away at Middx. This bloke is a total legend. I can highly reccommend his book, ('Tuffers' if I'm right). only match winning spinner the poms have had for years. Obviously the powers never liked the cut of his jib. I still rate Tuffers better value than te other duds the oms have played, especially Crofty. That bloke must continually shout the bar, cos there is no other reason I see to take him on tour!

(like Tuffers so much I named one of my wifes pet rabbits Phil)

Lookin forward to second test at headquarters. Expect the poms to show a bit more ticker, and I never take anything for granted at cricket. She's a funny old game! still Go aussies Go!

Ponts has belted 90no odd of 80 odd v Somerset before pommy summer took over. Langer was 35 no of 70 odd.

So that would still make them in contention for an English call up then I reckon? 8-)))

DeFreitas is still going I think he's back at Leicestershire where he started his career but I think he's bowling slow mediums now.(sh1t how I thought he was gonna win us the 87 world cup when he started swinging in the last few overs but the iceman had the last laugh-& he's still laughing now)
Yeah Malcolm bagged 8-68 the other day off some ridiculously small amount of overs, it's a bit unfair to say he's as useless as he always was LD because he was useless most of the time but ever so occasssionally (& who knows why or what triggered it) he could bowl as quickly & as threateningly as anyone in the world.I still remeber him clearing up Viv Richards in the 89/90 series in the carribbean, Vivy thought he could heave Devon over midwicket but big Dev kept knocking his middle stump out of the ground.

Chris Lewis is gone & good bloody riddance I say, the most gutless, disloyal arrogant pr1ck to play for England, the fool once shaved his head in the West Indies & had to miss a Test due to sunstroke!
I still have fond memories of a 1 day semi-final Surrey v Essex at the Oval when I went with my mates & drank about 15 pints smoked a load of grass & spent the whole day abusing poor old Chrissie boy who had the misfortune to be fielding right in front of us at long off.I like to think we put him sufficiently off his game for Stuart Law to cart him to all corners of the ground-LOL.

Altogether now
If Chrisse Lewis can play for England so can I,so can I......
