I remember seeing him daily on the Richmond membership billboard at St Kilda Rd junction a few years back, I cant believe how it ended up for him. There's an ESPN 30 for 30 in his story. Talk about "what could have been".

Cogs was as good as Sammy Mitchell and was just a level below Juddy at his peak. In his 2nd year he came 2nd in our BnF, then the year after in his 3rd year, he won our BnF and came equal 6th in the Brownlow (he actually robbed crawf of making the brownlow a 4-way tie that year).

Anyhow, we see how Mitchell is still dominating now, if it wasn't for injuries, Cogs would have been on a similar level as Mitchell and the Tigers may have played finals a couple more times.

A real hard-luck story is Cogs, he's a ripper bloke too.

His name is thrown up in every single thread similar to this. Hardly forgotten.

Don't understand some of the names being thrown up. Coughlan is continually mentioned by Tigers fans as what could have been and will be for decades to come. Nigel Smart has 2 premiership medals and retired on 278 games, the most by any Adelaide player at the time. Adam Yze's name is Yze, that alone is enough to remember him, let alone having a good career playing 250+ games with a handful of club and league honours.
