Fawkner Amateurs played in the FDFL in 1996. My records show they wore "Navy Blue with Light Blue surrounds and White monogram". By 1998 they weren't in the FDFL so may have played 95/96 in the league or 96/97. They weren't in the comp in 1994.

Seem to recall one of the Fawkner sides played as 'Fawkner Park' at one stage?
Moomba Park played in the Riddell League in the 90s and i think they merged with Fawkner Park before eventually folding.

I did some research a while back and was able to sort out the Fawkner Amateurs/Fawkner Park story:

1996: WRFL - Fawkner Amateurs - Navy Jumper with White Monogram and Sky Blue Trim.
1997: WRFL - Fawkner Park (merged with Moomba Park) - Navy Jumper with White Monogram and Sky Blue Wings (as per West Coast Eagles)
1998, 1999 in Recess, 2000-2006: DVFL - Fawkner Park - Navy Jumper with White Monogram and Sky Blue Wings
2007: In Recess.
2008: EDFL - Northern Saints (Merged with North Coburg Saints) - Original Port Power Design, Red top and Green Bottom with Navy (top) and White (bottom) Spikes.

Yep.

It used to be called Sancta Sophia College before the merger with Therry and Geoghegan. The school started in 1967 and Glenroy as a suburb didn’t really get going until the 50s, so the football club couldn't have existed for very long.

They played one season of EDFL and that was in 1941.

All Nations Youth Club was an Essendon Football club initiative - to bring football to newly arrived immigrants in Maribyrnong. Seasons 1953, 54 and 55. Was the team that Noel Boles (Doutta Stars) kicked 24 goals against. I have an image, will upload when I have privileges.

Ess Baptists before the WW2, then a name change they became Essendon Baptist St, Johns and added the “EBSJ” monogram. Eventually became Essendon Tullamarine, and now Tullamarine Demons FC.

Around 2007 I think it was they wore a replica in a game against Moonee Valley. Navy blue, white monogram, white cuffs.

1975 Essendon\Tullamarine added the Tullamarine Juniors.

1978
Pascoe Vale, Hadfield and West Coburg transferred their junior teams from Northern Metropolitan League to the EDFL.

Great tips on those last 5 posts. If you know the jumpers, grounds etc for other clubs that would be great to add to Wikipedia too. I think some of the very early clubs from the 30s/40s/50s/60s are perhaps lost to time now, but there are a few of them that would certainly be in living memory such as Royal Park that played in the 70s/80s that people may remember that I have been unable to find any information on.

I notice Doutta stars used to have the Mickey mouse show song as their club song. Now they dont Anyone know why?

Doutta Stars. Last weekend became the first club in the Essendon district league to win the B-grade and A-grade flag in successive seasons when it defeated Airport West by 49 points at Windy Hill. Persist in singing D-O-U-T-T-A S-T-A-R-S to the tune of M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E in the club song.

The Mickey Mouse version was well and truly buried by 1999. From memory the change over to “It’s a Grand Old Flag” as the club theme song happened around 1990.

I have my own website but will help you where possible.

Royal Park was St Davids. In 1979, Royal Park and Batman (from NMFL) met to discuss introducing juniors. They merged to form Coburg Districts. St Francis de Sales JFC also part of Coburg Districts.

"Disgrace Brought to Essendon"

Statements that disgrace had been brought on the municipality by incidents at the Essendon District League football final between South Kensington and Woodlands at Ascot Vale sports ground on Saturday week were made at last night's meeting of Essendon Council.

Loaded hose and other weapons were alleged to have been used in a fight between spectators and players during the last quarter. The disturbance was described in a report to the council by the caretaker of the ground (Mr H. Bennett). Cr. Cotton said the council would have to exercise firmer control over visiting teams which used Essendon municipal grounds.

"We should take a serious view of this matter," said Cr. Gilbertson. "The clubs concerned should be told that we will not stand for such conduct and that the council stands for clean sport."

CHARGES AGAINST PLAYERS

FOUR protests by South Kensington club, which lost the final match of Essendon District League to Woodlands on Saturday, after a disturbance between players and spectators had held up play in the last quarter, have been dismissed.

South Kensington has the right to a grand final replay, but charges against several players arising out of the game will be dealt with by Essendon District League tomorrow night.

Details of Charges

The clubs have been notified that charges by the umpire are: D. Foley (South Kensington) striking; Nunan (Woodlands), and striking and showing; Johns (South Kensington), kicking J. Nunan (Woodlands).

thank you , what a great read

No worries. The game is not recorded by the EDFL in either of their published histories.

Final piece of the story.

An affray between many of the players and nearly 150 spectators at a football match was described at the Flemington Court on Tuesday when John Joseph Foley, aged 23 driver, of Arden street, Kensington. was changed with having assaulted
Charles McPherson Turner, fireman of Epsom Rd, Ascot Vale. Foley was alleged to have struck Turner with a length of rubber hose filled with sand, which was produced in court.

Turner said that he was playing at Half Forward for the Woodlands football team against South Kensington on the Walter Street Reserve. Ascot Vale on September 26th.

In the last quarter one of the opposing players hit him. Turner retaliated and in the general fight among spectators and players which followed Turner was struck to the ground from behind with some heavy object.

John Turner, father of Charles Turner said that he saw Foley strike his son on the head with a piece of piping. He carried his son to the pavilion where he collapsed.

Foley denied that he had the rubber hose or that he had engaged in the fight. Other witnesses supported his statement.

Foley was fined £5, in default imprisonment for 14 days and £1/18/6 in costs.

Fantastic read and fond memories of Walter St reserve having been born and raised in Walter St.. 10-12 houses up from the ground. Great memories as a kid tadpoling in the creek directly at the rear of Walter St reserve on what was then ICI land..Now all housing.
Also used to watch old Ascot Vale games there.. Mc Cleans etc.
And I’d bet the old man knew the Epsom Rd Turners having lived in Walter St from 1920 until the day he died (1999)
(Sorry for digressing, couldn’t help meself)
