turns out the 1st EDFL Representative team was in foundation year 1930 - they played against Essendon 2nd Eighteen, on Essendon's Ground, 2nd of August. They lost 19.18 - 9.7

I think I have covered most things and I will now begin to add the information.

Been working on the League Timeline so that's a good example, and Airport West the best example of a club setup.

Any ideas please let me know. And ofcourse, if you have anything to add such as pictures or stories send a message.

Excellent stuff mate

Thank you, much appreciated.

League Formation

The EDFL was born from the ashes of the Essendon & Flemington Protestant Churches Football Association. The EFPCFA was a long standing competition however it was facing difficulties fielding teams due to the lack of interest in church activities by the youth. By 1929, only 6 senior teams competed with Flemington-Kensington defeating St. Johns in the Grand Final. The meeting to organise the 1930 season attracted only 4 teams, so the decision was made for the competition to 'lapse for the present.' It never returned.

The EFPCFA President was Cr Royle and the league secretary was Mitchell. Both men held the same positions with the newly formed EJFL.

Thank you.

I'll just keep adding the info that I have over the next few months then fix the current clubs info and fill the remaining gaps. I think the last thing will be Round by Round scores as I will need to venture to the library and get out the microfilm.

La Mascotte's full name is La Mascotte Maribyrnong Social Club.

I'm not convinced that 6th Melbourne Scouts ever played in the EDFL. They were Kensington based but played FDFL and Boy Scouts League. The FDFL kicked them out due to continued forfeits. Might have gone to Metro League but still had issues with forfeits.

If anyone has club member badges like these, I'd love an image to add to the site.

From 1958, the Queens Birthday, the EDFL would venture to Adelaide to take on a local league. The following year, an SA League side would come to Melbourne. I've got results to 1982 - not sure if it was played beyond that year.

G'day Heritage,

I added the 6th Melbourne Scouts to the EDFL Wikipedia Page way-back-when on account of finding the EDFL's 75th Anniversary booklet online as a PDF - here's the link where that document lists all the former clubs of the league: https://silo.tips/download/75th-anniversary-founded-1930

I have just downloaded it again now, so the link is still active - enjoy!

There are two 'Official Histories' - one produced in 1983 and the modern one we have.

There's no mention of 6th Scouts in the 83 version and I can find nothing that has them playing in the EDFL during the time period. Of course there is a possibility that they had a junior team between 1983 and the 75th Anniversary.

EDFL Annual Reports would be the final source to check. I will get to that eventually.
