Not sure if posted here but Nick Suban coached his team to win the A grade Perth Football League last week.
Nick Suban coached Curtin Wesley. They got pumped in the GF by North Beach. BOG in the game was none other than our former ruck Zac Clark. Was recruited about 6 weeks into the season and bossed it with North Beach thereafter dominating in the ruck.

Ah right, cheers for clearing that up!
I did hear Zac Clarke played the game on SportFM. A few ex-players still kicking around the league I think?

Hugh Dixon to the Tasmania Devils VFL side.

Good pickup for them, but long road back to AFL given his previous problems.

He's the sort that should be given a go year one if he's shown enough IMO.

Don't think he'd last long as they take additional draft picks, uncontracted players etc. but you'd rather Gold Coast and GWS have had the Hugh Dixons of the world in the squad rather than some random youngster that would've gone at pick 80+.

How does South Suburban structure it's grades? Are the one day grades under the two days grades or is it parallel?
Trying to work out if one day E constitutes smashing crabs or not.
Asking the wrong person. I was just thinking he’d have to be better than Marnus or Konstas right about now. I mean it’s Dave Mundy - he can defy time and space and do just about anything so worth a go I reckon.

Get where you're coming from, but Dixon also didn't seem professional off field judging by the "he can be whatever he wants to be" commentary when he was at our club. Reckon if I'm the Devils I'd want mature players who are committed and set a good standard off-field.

(With that said maybe a few years in WAFL has helped.)

You’d think being delisted by the eagles would have been enough of a wake-up call

AFL footy training is like trying to move a pile of bricks by only running into it, knowing you will work hard all day to shift it an inch, getting closer to the fitness goal, but you're bashed up, beaten and sore with the sunrise of tomorrow coming fast to do it all over again.

It really isn't for everyone.

He's a bit young to be considered for the test set up, so that'll count against him.

On the flip side, he has played at a senior level on the SCG, MCG, Gabba, ... so the experience is with him.

Darcy Tucker delisted. Wonder if he’ll go on another podcast and talk about how hard done by he was.

I've played in that comp. It is a very low standard, on astroturf, all ages.
For most clubs the one day grades are below the two-day grades.
Anyone with even a little bit of athletic ability/hand-eye has a massive advantage in One Day E.
You still have to make the runs, so props to Dave for that.
But calls for him to open in the Ashes might be slightly premature .

I remember a story a guy I used to work with told me about a super fit cross sport guy coming in to his similarly suburban grade park cricket side. The guy didn't hit a boundary all day but nearly every ball was running a two or three - non strikers needed to retire "stuffed"

It's my experience the way the grades in any comp fall off in skill is not linear. My club is in North Suburban and last year (they have gone back to 8 team grades this year so its changed again, but I digress) I made 325 odd in Gs which is not bad for an old man. If I had instead been bludging in J or K or whatever I'd have made 500, even though its not really that many sides lower. This is despite the fact I now bat in distance prescription glasses and always walk the second now if I can get away with it.

I.E. David was smashing crabs.

There is no way that story is true. After 15 minutes of that his teamates would have just run him out.

Probably. The best park cricket story I've seen was a one day team opening the batting with two 14 year olds because the opposition didn't have everyone arrive yet (one who went on to play for Australia so you can guess where this story goes)... anyway, they were 400 off 30 overs and both hit big centuries. First ball was a leggie bowling a half tracker and the ball ended up on the hill near me.

I am expecting Mundy's innings was against similar opposition.

Bit like Caleb winning all his Glendinning-Allan medals

Heard a story similar to Taylor’s.
Charlie Tyson and Tony Parentich playing in a Mercantile Association final were the only members of their team present when play was due to start.
Oppo win the toss and put them into but on the basis that a quick wicket would win the game.
Score at stumps 0/300 plus.
