None of them will.

I don't know, looking at a few incidents in recent years, especially towards the top of the championship points, and there have been some interesting "interpretation" of the rules by the drivers to get an edge, I would think it would be in the best interest for FIA to look at the penalty handed out, especially considering the grand scheme of things, like slightly driving over a line exiting the pits, missing the start of an anthem three times, using a non FIA approved fuel monitor etc

If anyone intentionally drives into someone else this year, they'll get black flagged. Don't think it matters that they didn't make an example of vettel.

FIA won't be willing to go through this again and will likely issue a most stern of warnings in the Spielberg drivers briefing.

Yes, and that seems like the right thing to do, but the question would be why it wasn't the right thing to do last race or even a subsequent race penalty (in reviewing the incident)? I didn't think the rules were this ambiguous.

If the rules are this ambiguous and open to interpretation, as there is now a precedence, it should be in any drivers right to question whether they are allowed to deliberately run into another car and not get a black flag (only a 10 second stop-go). It would seem the rules are unfairly favouring one driver over the others if this is not the case.

All kicking off now. As it stands, no more British Grand Prix after 2019. Renegotiating the contract though, opens the door for every other country that was shafted by Bernie to get a more favourable deal.

Also read this German article that claims Honda have backed out of supplying Sauber next year. Google translate says Honda are "dissatisfied with personnel roaches in the team". Monisha negotiated that deal but now she's gone and Honda clearly aren't happy about that. Ferrari power is probably better for them, anyway.

Is it just Silverstone saying no, or the whole Brittish GP ?

I'm sure Brands Hatch would be more than willing to pick up the Brittish GP
Silverstone saying no.

Brands Hatch would be near impossible to bring up to FIA Grade 1 now, and Donington won't go near F1 again after the debacle and subsequent bankruptcy that was the 2010 proposal. Only alternative would be a London street race, which has been proposed.

I wondered about Donington, what a disaster that was.

A street race in London would surely be too hard to do with traffic etc?

Isn't that the same reason the street race in Sydney was ruled out?
well there's the demonstration event being held tonight our time. Only announced yesterday or something to hopefully prevent another nutjob making an unwelcome appearance in his truck/van.

could be a test as to how viable a GP there is. It's also being livestreamed by FOM which is also a test as to how viable live streaming F1 events is.

Interesting that the reason given for activating the break clause is that their promoter's fee is too high and therefore they are losing money, yet it's still significantly lower than the fees a number of other circuits pay (including Melbourne)
I'm guessing they spent a metric ****ton on the Silverstone redevelopment but it hasn't translated into increased revenue.

From this article https://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2017...h-f1-gp-host-at-tipping-point-under-contract/:

They spent £50m over the last 10 years on redevelopment and will pay a promoter's fee of £16.2m this year with an expected loss of ~£5m.

I'm fairly certain the Melbourne GP loses more than that in direct revenue but I assume the British Racing Drivers’ Club are less willing to accept losses than the government backed races like Melbourne because they don't take "wider economic benefit" into account.

Apparently Hamilton was the only current F1 driver not to make an appearance (was holidaying in Greece instead), and was booed for it. :D
Just a dumb selfish decision by Lewis. Especially for his home country fans. What they did to setup F1live London was special. I definitely enjoyed the cars doing donuts at Trafalgar Square. The interviews, the live music.

For a first time event, Lewis should of been there with the other 19 drivers. He can go party in Greece next week.

eeekkkk, its happening....

Halo protection system to be introduced for 2018

Next year’s Formula 1 cars will all be fitted with the Halo cockpit protection system, the FIA announced on Wednesday.
The Halo, designed to reduce the risk of injury from debris or other objects striking a driver’s head, was trialled by a number of teams during Grand Prix practice sessions last year.

With the support of the teams, certain features of its design will be further enhanced ahead of its introduction in 2018.

The move was announced following a meeting of the Formula One Strategy Group, at which other topics discussed included 2
