Moments that I remember (there'ss more but I'll just post these up for the mo)

Adelaide '94 - For obvious reasons
Suzuka '95 - Jean Alesi's charge through the field on slicks on a still fairly wet track.
Monaco '96 Olivier Panis winning, only 4 or so cars finished if I remember correctly.
Spain '96 Michael Schumacher flogging everyone in insanely wet conditions.
Germany '96 Gerhard Berger retiring from the lead - was gutted
Germany '97 Berger's last win.
Hungary '97 Damon Hill coming so close to winning in an Arrows

Fast forward a bit to Mark Webber's 5th on debut in the Minardi.:)

There was also one year in Hockenheim - 2001 or 2002 era? When the pissed off ex Mercedes employee invaded the track - Barrichello won that day.

That would've been quite impossible as Hamilton was on the outside line at the time. He braked suddenly to avoid passing the safety car by mistake. Webber took the inside line but also braked suddenly to avoid passing Hamilton. Vettel had nowhere to go.

It was 2001. Barrichello's first ever GP win as well. What a drive by Barrichello that day, qualified 18th and charged through the field to win the race. Gee, I miss the old Hockenheim :( it was one of my favourite tracks until Hermann Tilke butchered it and turned it into what it is today.
 
It was 2000. Ralf Schumacher (most overpaid person in existence) won in 2001.

Then, suddenly a disgruntled former Mercedes employee appeared beside the track with a banner on which was written, 'Mercedes Benz, who knew about my health problems, offered me a job I could not do and then sacked me for physical ineptitude after 20 years service'. He crossed the track as marshals chased him and so the safety car was sent out until the man was caught.

Interesting fact: Monacco 1996, David Couthard borrowed a helmet from Michael Schumacher for the race.

While we're at it, Belgium 1998, when Schuey wanted to belt DC after that accident.:)

Thank you. I stand corrected. :) I agree with you entirely about Ralf Schumacher, but I think his salary was boosted by BMW. Schumacher only beat Montoya in the first of their three seasons as Williams teammates. In my view he needed to do a lot more than that to justify his huge pay packet. I was happy when Williams finally got rid of him.

That was the closest Schumacher ever came to driving for McLaren ;).

Just a heads up guys, http://thebox.bz/ is currently open for registration and it has a shitload of torrents for old F1 races, season reviews etc. And the speed's pretty good too. Highly recommend you get on it now, I've already got 1999 and 1994.

On the subject of talking about old highlights, races etc etc.

I have 45 minute BBC/ITV highlights of every race from 1993-1997 if anyone's interested. I could upload any requests onto youtube. in excellent quality as well.
it's not the whole race coverage, but all the highlights and good bits are shown from each race.

so if you've got any fav races from 93,94,95,96, or 97 fire them through guys :thumbsu: cheers

The blessed one, I remember the day he caved his head in at Adelaide during qualifying. If he had done that anywhere else in the world he'd be a dead man because 2 triage surgeons wanting to practice cutting holes in peoples head to stop swelling after a major impact (normaly fatal) decided to postion themselves where Mika pranged.

It's amazing how much safety has advanced since then. Nowadays, high cockpit sides and HANS devices help to minimise the driver's head movement during a collision. It looked like quite a bad crash, but thankfully he survived.
 
The most memorable F1 race i could think of would be the Belgian grand prix of 1998 when after an accident on the circuit, Schumacher confronted Coulthard saying the the latter tried to kill him. It was a wet race when shortly after retiring from an unfortunate crash, Schumi stormed the rival’s garage to talk things out. How professional for the phenom to do that eh?

At that stage, though, only Prost, Senna and Piquet were world champions. It was nice, though, to see so many household names in F1 back then, although I doubt Hakkinen and Schumacher were that well known in 1991.

I always wondered what would've been had Gilles Villeneuve not been killed in 1982 and raced on until the late 1980s. Prost, Senna, Piquet, Mansell and Villeneuve.
 
Watching my 2008 Season Review DVD (Seriously cannot recommend these things enough). The cars look so different. Grooved tyres. Force India a backmarker. Aus GP was absolutely chaotic too.

Also who's this upstart putting Toro Rosso into Q2? Sebastian something...

I own a decade DVD of the 50s 60s and 70s. Then every single season review from 1980 onwards.

Some good memories.
Alfa in the Early 80's with their turbo V8. Didnt win but a few second places.

Ferrari in 83, Alboretto in 85.
The schumacher years, where they kept changing the points system and tyres and still couldnt stop him

Old Minardi days.
 
I watched the 1985 Portugese GP last night. The commentary from Murray Walker (whose just announced cancer in the lymph gland at 89) and Mr James Hunt cut in and out as a result of the rain. Alberettos scuderia did very well. 1 of two cars not to be lapped twice by the black number 12 john player special lotus renault.
