I have never tipped against my own team, but I took one look at your guys forward line and backed against my team.

I haven't appreciated how strong it is, and we are going to struggle tomorrow no matter how hard we play. Podsiadly is a huge pick up. Never seen a guy get so many contested marks.

Anyway hope its a good game tomorrow.

To be honest I'm not that worried about Geelong's forward line. It's their midfield and ridiculous midfield depth that's going to rape ours and give jizz-worthy supply to their forwards that I'm worried about. We have a good young (bar cornes) defence, but they can only do so much when we will be dominated tomorrow.

I can assure you we will come out hard, expect 80 tackles minimum. We just had a crappy week last week. But still expect the Cats to win by 4 Goals.

This is what I've liked about Port this season, the pressure they've been applying to the opposition has been great. If the Power can continue that today, Geelong are human and can make mistakes, and it will give Port every chance at winning this game.

Looking forward to seeing how Geelong utilise Mooney, Hawkins and Podsiadly in the team, and whether we float Ottens down there occasionally. Also is potentially a day where Steve Johnson could find some football if Port can't find a suitable matchup for him.

Really liked the look of Podsiadly last week, good to see a player who probably thought he was never going to become an AFL player come in and play very well.

Prooves the 3 talls to many theory to be a myth, in fact enables greater freedom for the smalls and took the pressure off Mooney and Hawkins.
Pods is the 'X' factor we've needed, its been a long time since we've buried a team like that and kicked the big score as we used to.
Mooney 10 marks, Pods 11, Hawkins 6 and strong a the contest, SJ 6goals, Ablett 3, Byrnes 2, I think it works.
So will the naysayers shut their mouths now!

Our forward line looks better than it has since Ablett senior retired. Moons is in great form, Pods is a star in the making, Tommy looks threatening, Byrnes has shown he can kick a goal when needed, and now SJ looks like finding some form, and that's before you factor in the other players that rotate through there (Ottens, Chapman, Ablett, in particular). All we need is a bit more pace in there I think - at times our defensive pressure is lacking. But we still have Max, Trav Varcoe, and maybe Stokesy to play around with, not to mention the kids coming through (Mitch Duncan, Hogan).

I think it will be horses for courses forward line. The 3 talls may be a bit top heavy against running defences like St Kilda or Bulldogs, but I think it will completely and utterly destroy Carlton's defence next week.

Look at our forward line contingent:

Pods
Mooney
Hawkins
Byrnes
Ablett
Johnson
Chapman
Rooke
Stokes
Varcoe
Ottens

Sure some are bit part forwards, but you would have to say that with the exception of really Rooke and Varcoe (who bring their own unique qualities) we have a list of players that are all capable of kicking a bag.

I think what is exciting is that going a bit top heavy might actually work to our advantage - i.e. we can afford to bomb the ball on occasions (especially if zoned out of the contest) because we have the luxury of 4 big boys who will create a spillage and have blokes like Ablett, Chapman, Johnson, Byrnes, Varcoe, Jimmy, Sel and now even Mitch Duncan fighting for the spillage. I think it provides great versatility to us.

Of course our traditonal path is to bring the ball through the corridor and execute fast moving play....but given the defensive depth of St Kilda and a few other teams, we could be served well by going over the zone to a contest.

Very very encouraging, especially when you have the likes of Scarlett, Milburn, Harry and Lonergan holding the defensive posts on the rebound.

I like what i'm seeing, i think we are in a better place now then any of the previous 3 years....the right mix of experience and still with a host of youth knocking on the door. Very very exciting.
