There's a bit of discussion on this in the 'changes' thread but I thought a stand-alone thread may be warranted.

This is how I'd like to see us start down back:

Presti (FB) on Podsiadly
Reid (CHB) on Mooney
L. Brown on Hawkins - could use Leroy's presence against cats. Failing this, N.Brown on Hawkins.
Toovey on Johnson
Harry on Byrnes
Shaw on Chapman

Not sure where this leaves Maxwell. Maybe he comes on for Leroy when Hawkins moves into ruck. Or maybe he gets Johnson; Toovey to Byrnes and Harry/Stokes.

Up the other end, I suspect:

Taylor will go to Cloke
Scarlett to Dawes

The rest is tough, though possibly:
Hunt/Lonergan to Medhurst
Mackie to Dids or maybe Milburn to play Dids physically (?)
Enright to Mcaffer?
Who get's Leon??

What do others think?

Johnson and Toovey, if it happens, I think will be a massive match-up. Toovey has a chance to prove himself and would win over any left-over non-believers. We forgot Stokes - Shaw to Stokes, Chapman must be tagged by Daisy or Johnson.

The Main KPP we have to stop having a Influence is Scarlett and Dawes has shown a Lot this season but I don't think he ready for Scarlett who just Flogged Bradshaw and Fev

Presti - Mooney - He is their best key forward. Very influentual
Reid/Brown - Hawkins -I think N.Brown is a better match up but Reids' form better
Maxwell - Podsiadly -reportedly once ball hits the deck he's out of contest. Maxy can run off him
Harry - S.Johnson - done the job before
Toovey - Varcoe/Byrnes
Heater - Varcoe/Byrnes

I think Stokes will go out for Podsiadly.

Actually if you want to use that strategy as Carlton did, you're much better putting your running defender on Hawkins, as they did.

Podsiadly is not super quick, but he has good endurance and he runs heaps up the ground (often as far as CHB). Hawkins has the same aerobic capacity but not the footy brain and hence can lose his man in traffic going the other way. Anyway the fwd/back matchups as you have posted them look pretty even I must say.

I am hoping SJ will play as well for us as he did last night and that that gives us an edge.

Presti - JPod *Most dangerous forward, meet our best defencive back*
Harry O - Steve J *Has worked very well in the past and Harry O has done an excellent job at getting under his skin. Last few occasions we have had Goldsack play Steve J without much success, but Harry O is by far the best matchup*
Toovey/ Shaw - Stokes
Shaw/ Toovey - Byrnes
Maxwell/ N.Brown - Mooney *Would like to see Maxwell given the job on Mooney. Both tough cookies. Otherwise is N.Brown gets selected he could take Mooney when Hawkins moves into the ruck*
N.Brown - Hawkins *Better matchup than Reid based on the fact that in terms of size he can match him better*
Johnson/ Shaw - Chapman
Johnson/ Shaw - Duncan

I think most of the matchups pick themselves. But the one that worries me the most is Chapman. Always carves us up, so no idea who will play on him, and he is in incredible form.

The other matchup that concerns me is Mooney. Only because of selection. We need Presti in, and if we drop Reid or Brown [probably the former given Brown is suited to Hawkins], that leaves Maxy for Mooney [questionable matchup].

Johnson, Wellingham and Thomas to rotate on Ablett.
Ball to go with Selwood.
Toovey to take the in-form Varcoe.
Harry to take Johnson.
Heath to Stokes.
Presti to JPod.
Brown to Hawkins.
Maxwell or Reid [if in] to Mooney.

We need our forwards to work extremely hard on curbing the influence of Enright, Scarlett, Taylor, Hunt, Wojak etc. off half-back. This is why I think Medhurst needs to come in for Jack, otherwise they'll burn us on the fast-break.

High-intensity, limit the turnovers, and we are a huge chance.

Presti to Mooney. The obvious match-up, Mooney is a very good forward, Presti our best back. Go figure.
Reid or Brown to Podsiadly. One of these two will have to go out this week, both are capable to handle Pods.
Maxwell to Hawkins. Look what Walker did to Hawkins a few weeks back, Maxy has to work off him.
Toovs to Steve J. Most people would think Harry, however we need a player to totally shut down Johnson, Toovs is the man!
Harry to Byrnes. He is dangerous, Harry can take him easily whilst running off him
SHaw to Stokes/Varcoe. See Harry.

I think we match up very well. We have to stop their midfield.
