Okay, so we are 10 days away from the start of the season, and there is a massive issue down forward, especially with the rookies/cheap players.

Rohan is a lock, Kennedy-Harris seems to be a lock (well, if he is selected...but more likely than not he will be). That's about it.

Impey - fringe
Honeychurch - Not best 22
Garlett - lol
Kersten - injured and taking forever to recover.
Taylor, Paine, Menzel & Lennon injured.
Bock - not ready.
Billings - not ready.
Nahas - fringe.
Harper - fringe/underdone.
Patton - coming back from injury, KPF, not scoring well
Boyd - KPF, first year, hasn't played NAB
Clark - Injured
Fasolo - Underdone/fringe at best

Seriously Hogan is the only guy that stands out as being a decent pick along with the other two (expensive, first year KPF, but is Best 22 at least). Therefore I really can't see it being possibly to start any more than 3 rookies (at best) down forward.

This isn't so much of a problem with AFL Fantasy, just wait a fortnight and change your team around after a round of the real stuff, and you are able to take much more risks with mid-pricers. But for Real DT, this presents a huge problem with the starting team. The lack of decent options might have possible repercussions in regards to the overall structure of your team. Not to mention the fact Dangerfield, Martin & Cloke (through form..) are the only real stand-out forward premium options making it even tougher.

We should have plenty of downgrade options during the year, but there will be massive headache for most over the coming weeks.

What are you doing down forward in 2014 to your starting team?

Consider Tunbridge. Agreed though forwards full-stop are not looking good this year.

Dumped from GWS after their 2011 season (before they entered the AFL). Hasn't played a NAB Game so far even though WCE have rested a few players...believe me I really want to consider someone, anyone! I just want someone with 2 legs, the ability to score 40+, and somewhat decent job security.

Sam Lloyd is a good chance to debut early if not Round 1.

Be interesting to see if we play him against the Bombers on Friday.

With Newman under an injury cloud and King/Knights having interrupted pre-seasons I can see him getting an opportunity

Forward structure will have to be top heavy, but with plenty of cheap mids around it should be easy to squeeze extra premiums into the forward line. There's also plenty of midpricers looking like they can push into premium status

Sam Lloyd from the Tigers has been mentioned as a chance, some chance of debuting Round 1.
I might keep Kersten for a few rounds, but who knows when he actually makes the firsts; Vardy out helps a bit. They do rate him highly at the Cattery though. A dilemma for RDT for mine.

I'm guessing Close being a 2nd year KPF is also irrelevant and doubt you rate his chances of best 22 too highly Crawb?

I think Impey is a chance of snagging a few early ones but his ceiling won't be high, and points scored per TOG so far hasn't been flash-hot at all and he is in all likelihood 2014's Neade - sub vest written all over, being a first-round pick with considerable dash and power without an enormous tank.

Zac Merrett has also been mentioned for Round 1 but moreso for the vest as well... no surprises if he spends a year in the seconds.

Markworth has talent but also on the fringe at the Saints and last looked "rusty" in the intraclub. Lincoln McCarthy may snag a few early but again otherwise is fringe material with Motlop, Menzel, Christensen to return.

Blease has a scant endurance base. LRT is a nono with that checkered DT history. Garner has sub written if he does crack the 22. Not sure about Broomhead but can't be too confident on his chances of being a viable cashcow either - picked up an hand injury first NAB match. McBean is raw.
Membrey (undersized KPF/half-forward) and McGovern (low fitness base) look far off. Towers an uphill battle to break the Swans firsts and even then he is inconsistent from what I've heard.

(No one from Freo worth mentioning - Taberner is cheapish but you only have to look at his average from 4 games to stay away. Apeness is a smokie to play early with Gumby out but preseason has been very, very quiet. And Menegola unlikely to be promoted despite his huge tank - stay away.)

This has got Relton Roberts written all over it ;)

Oh **** no. Brown, McGuane, Staker will be the main tall guys. Close essentially competing with Paine, Paparone, Lilse, Bourke, Freeman, Michael to be that guy who occasionally gets a game as a KPF.

Could skimp out with your rucks -

I think someone else mentioned it here but could use Hickey...risky but I'd like to be able to get away with it. I've plugged him in my side just so I can play around with the extra money. Not sure how much to realistically expect from him. He's pulled the odd 86 and 112 (his highest scores) and should be the saints #1 ruck correct?

Put the money saved into your fwds.

Agree the fwds are very thin, which is why I think you need to skimp on the mids so you can have a solid fwd line..

At the moment I have Dangerfield, Martin, Caddy, Higgens, LeCras, Rohan - Kennnedy-Harris & Taylor. I am sure it will change with selection, but I wanted to have 6 players I knew will play and perform and are unlikely to be subs.

I reckon Saints will use both Hickey and Longer.

At the moment my Rucks are Sandilands and Hampson.

McDonough appears to be our saviour! 184K. Expensive, but no other options! I'm just glad there finally is an option apart from Rohan!

Should play Round 1 but no lock in our team which has a lot of depth.

Kennedy-Harris? 30k cheaper...
What about Lloyd or Sam Blease?
JKH has been quite since the first NAB Game. Lloyd isn't Richmond best 22 quite simply. Blease? Really people, has it come down to Sam Blease!?!
