Foster

All I know is the guy has had his chance, give someone else a go like Silvagni etc...

Foster can go play WAFL all year, if he holds up and has a great season look at him next year. No other clubs are gonna pick him up.

The people advocating more bottom end KPP and ruck selections have there football knowledge rooted in the last century. The running type player is where the game is at folks. Two more midfielders please. No selections based on famous surnames.

Ahh yeah, so that's why he's as slow as a wet week?

When you are that slow, you have to have other things to compensate - he simply doesn't. Even when fully fit, would he be in the starting midfield of a top 8 midfield? Definitely not would be the answer, so what's the point?

Might as well have a crack at someone that MIGHT become that person, rather than someone who definitely wont.

Would rather re-draft Pratt.

Agreed.

Indeed, just this. I personally cannot believe that we have Murphy, Thornton and Soloman on our list ahead of Pratt. Just cannot understand it, especially given Neill Ross and others had Stanley, Foster and Riggio training with the team in the lead up to PSD/RD. Surely taking a chance on Pratt is better than persisting with Spud or Flash?

Much as I love Fossie Bear for all his efforts, I'd say he'd not be in the starting midfield of anyone bar Port, Richmond or the Demons. We can definitely do better - but gee I wish we had Pratt instead of Murphy.

Good luck to Fossie Bear and Pratty in everything they do from here on in...

Solly gets a raw deal from some sections of this board imo.

I've been watching a few replays of our wins to get me through the off-season and one common recurring theme I keep seeing is that when Solly is running at a loose ball from one direction and the oppo from another he invariably wins it. When it comes to winning the hard ball I still have more faith in him than any other player in our team.

He may only have a year or two left but I'm more than happy to see him in the team every week at this stage. I bet the young guys love having him out there watching their back.

Agree entirely..

hey, I'm not having a go at Solly per se - just noting that he is nearer the end of his career, and (personally) I think if we can cut Foster then Solly, Murphy and Thronton (plus Des and Brock) should all thank their lucky stars they are still on the list.

While I've no doubt that Dean S version 2007-2009 is a truly inspirational player for our gunyounguns, I'm stunned that he is rated higher than Pratt and Pearce, and that he is retained at the same time as Spud, Flash and Brock.

I'd have no problem keeping Solly ahead of Spud, Flash and Brock, but it strikes me as a bit counter to the re-build to cut Prat yet keep Solly, Spud, Flash and Brock, while also not elevating Pearce.

Just my view, and as you all know I know ****call.

Sorry boys, but Solomon is well and truly past it. Only the Essendon connection is keeping him on the list. If he's a regular next year "the spoon" beckons.:(

Exactly, Solly has a job to do and does it. He's not some magical superstar which some on this board think he should be..

I love the way Solly goes about it but I think with the addition of McPhee and with Palmer, Crowley, Hase and DeBoer in the team along with another year in the gym from our younger guys a first 22 position for Solomon should be doubtful - see the other thread. Especially at home where pace is super important.
As long as he keeps imparting his style of play to DeBoer and others I'll be happy.

That may be true but his disposal and decision making has fallen below the level acceptable for elite level footy. Whether his other attributes compensate for this is up for debate, which is what we are doing here.

There must be some real major issues with Pratt? His footy ability is sound and with development one would think he'd be worth a rookie spot at least?

nup. crap comment :thumbsd:

i tell you what, if there is a 50/50 ball to win, i would pick solly to win it over any other player in the league, because he is fearless, tough and has more desire than any other player. this may be his last year, but he still has the right to his place on the list

He didn't that much upside to his game did he? he was a medium size back, who lacked pace, wasn't overly courageous and had average foot skills at best. The club put a good 2 years development into him and obviously considered their options before deciding to give another young guy a crack.

I like to hear the terrific bargain stories of players that make names of themselves through the rookie draft, but realistically all rookie picks are risky gambles who have as much chance of playing 100+ games to not playing any games at all

Total crap, he has very neat skills and is not afraid of a contest, reasonable pace too.
