I could be wrong about this, but I get the feel that Schofield works as a "contractor" for service, rather than being employed by X, Y, Z.

He's pretty good on Fox games, lot of people say he's biased towards the Eagles, it's hard for me to be objective about that, certainly no worse than Pavlich or Hasleby locally with their affiliations.

Freelancer is the word you're looking for. Mark Butcher would be one in cricket which is frustrating as he is a top quality commentator.

Personally I prefer someone who tries hard over a Gerard Healy who rocks up on gameday doing zero prep on the two teams.

I'm intrigued to see what, if any changes Channel 7 make if they take a bath with people switching to Fox Sports.

I'm not even sure they will, I suspect the people who are going to watch for Fox Sports commentary were probably already watching Fox Sports (and their advertising) for ad-free/HD.

If they cop a hiding though, I wonder how quickly they would switch things up.

But on Fox we had to cop the likes of JB BT and a flog like Darcy

Gerard's commentary for TV is better than expected too, not in SEN mode and not reading a sponsor's name every 30 seconds.

Jono Brown the weakest link, but at least he doesn't over-complicate things
