And it's not enough to just have em either, you gotta play them. The worse their stats are post game, they better they played. Just having such a useless bastard in your forward line puts the willies up the oppo defenders.
There's always ONE Gary Rohan or Mason Cox position in each team.

Fully appreciate the point you are making, but I'd suggest both Gary (Collingwood this year's finals) and Mason (that PF a couple years ago) have each had games that far exceed the value of the combined output of, say, Jed, Cam, Sam and Jake. No one does spuds up forward quite like we do.

More than 25 of the current Geelong squad apparently have farms in the Geelong and surrounds area.
A good tax rort if true.
Or at least it used to be years ago, according to some older blokes I used to work with, who owned them on YP and never sowed a single seed on the land the whole time 🙄😒

Bastards made us legit taxpayers fork out more to cover the Govt shortfall from their shenanigans 😠

I don't know much about him. I certainly wish him all the best at his time at Port. I look forward to seeing more of him and what we might be able to squeeze out he and possibly Dylan Williams our 'second-tier' small forwards.

We now have Rioli, Evans, Fantasia might still come good for a couple of games this year. We will have JHF in the midfield which will allow Butters/Rozee to spend a goodish amount of time rotating forward. So we are certainly better represented in terms of small forwards.

Then we have our current 'tall defenders' McKenzie, Clurey and Jonas. Old, undersized and starting to break down, although credit to them for the job they have done in recent years. Pasini will be out of action until at least a third of the way through the season and hasn't even played at AFL level yet. I assume we will draft one who will be unlikely to match it physically for at least a couple of years with some of the established tall forwards. Maybe we will play Finlayson as a defender which I don't think will work but fingers crossed if we try it.

Its a pity Hinkley wasn't related to a tall defender. Maybe that would have helped assure we landed one.

When I lived in rural NSW and QLD I worked with people who lived on acreage and had the minimum number of cattle/sheep to qualify as primary producers for tax purposes. Coming from a family that runs thousands of head of sheep I used to ask them what their animals names were.

I maintain Jakey was good for us in his first couple of years, I reckon he lost a yard early on from there.

I don't think it was so much as losing a yard of pace but when Port started to play a much slower brand there was bugger all space for Neade to run around in the forward line.

As a pressure small forward his 2014 finals series was elite. Unfortunately Port's change of game style stunted some of his development and I don't think he was able to overcome that through his own volition.

As for Frank, hope the kid does well. I'm not expecting much but as a depth break glass type signing it's really hard to complain about this. If it works out that's great. If not, so be it. Not as if the club is busting a glutton of resources financially or draft pick wise to have acquired him in the first place. A free hit.

Is it reported anywhere that it's a 2 year deal? I've seen something mentioned about it during the trade period but nothing since.
Surely DFAs are one year...then again, ports.

When I first saw the name Francis Evans I assumed he was a `left legger,' not that there is anything wrong with that. ;)

He has definitely got some ability and should be a more than handy back up for Fantasia and/or Rioli, but I suspect he will probably play more games for the Maggies than he does for the Power.

Said it before, this isn't the first time we've picked up a forward named Evans after 4 years at Geelong.

The first one was kinda handy.
