Not trying to be a smart arse but that's not correct.

Frank started with us on a part time-informal basis earlier in the year in 2005. His hands were all over the JON selection.

After the 2005 Draft on Saturday morning, I went to John Mathies house (mansion) for a post Draft function. Greg Miller spoke. One or two players were there. Frank was there.

Greg introduced Frank to everyone saying that he'd been doing some part time work for us for a while and would be joining us on a full time basis. Everybody welcomed him blah blah blah.

A bit later Greg showed me a heap of footage on his lap top of JON and said "Jarrod is Francis's baby. Loves him" which was funny because the clips were suitably unimpressive. Fumbled the ball a bit...few missed targets etc. Turned out to be a consistent theme !

Nice enough guy Frank but has been well past his use by date. Well past.
WASa recruiter at North with Miller during the 90s. He has long gone past his use by date and time he was moved on.

Not arguing that our drafting has been good, stop throwing in bullshit.
Ah yes it CLEARLY does hold weight. If every single other club passed on him then no one stuffed up now did they? Everyone came to the same conclusion, thats not a Richmond failure, thats just a surprise player.
Sydney had pick #21, they chose Jed Lamb. They thought Jed Lamb would be better than Parker.
Gold Coast had 9 picks (including the one directly before him) and didnt get him.

Picking Conca over Heppell is a failure, missing players in the 40s is not.
Wrong, some clubs can read the draft and get the players the want in the range they predict. For once a player we wanted fell to us and we skipped him by for a player that would of been there likely to the rookie draft. Same old story for us, midfielders slide to our picks but we speculate on ruck/fwds and flankers, neither of which we've been able to nail I might add, while we are still woefully short of contested mids.

As for Parker, there were a lot of angry people in the footy department and board when we picked Conca over him and Heppell and there were some even bigger melts when Batchelor got taken at 30. One guy got it wrong, while anyone who followed that draft was gobsmacked the Eagles and Swans got away with robbery.

His spent a bit of time this year on the HBF, especially early in the season. His not a HBF. I reckon it busted his fragile confidence and he never quite recovered.
He played HBF as a junior, running power and kicking were a feature, we viewed him as someone who had scope to move into the midfield over time. His weaknesses are still the same, he lacks hardness at the contest and composure. Unfortunately now he also runs to the boundary, when he receives the ball he's already turned his hips to run sideways and often turns a decent handball into a bad one as his momentum is away from the other player.

A good coach could fix his nonsense fairly quickly but I'm not sure about hardness and composure, they seem more innate qualities. I think it's best for us to trade him and help us retain pick 6, and use the opportunity to better balance our midfield.

If FJ picked Conca when the rest of the club wanted Parker, why does he still have a job?

That's a failure further up the line to compound FJ's horrendous stuff up.

It happens, but yes he should of been shown the door once it became clear 3-4 years ago how poor his record was. He's been unlucky at times, we've traded picks away that allegedly were going to be used on decent players, McMahon-S.Selwood, apparently we were keen in Sloane but traded that second rounder.

Didn't realise he started as a HBF. Just looks so uncomfortable to me when he is picking up his opponent with the ball coming. Often looks like his frantic because he feels out of position, regardless of whether his in front, behind, to the side, close or making up the distance.

Agree on the hardness. Innate. Some players love the body contact. Others don't.

I reckon composure can be taught, sometimes. Probably has a connection with craving body contact. Hard to be composed about the decision and disposal if you're already shitting bricks about being tackled.

I like the way BEllis goes about his footy, despite his down year, but I agree that the priority for the club is keeping pick 6. We have other hard-running wingers, so Brando becomes a little expendable. Change of scenery to a slow team might be better for him, too.

Just more garbage.
Give it a ****ing rest. He went pick 40, literally every team passed on him.
Pick 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39 all had a chance to take him after us and all choice someome else.
Give your bs a rest thanks.

Everything is awesome at the tigers in your world.

You can squeal all you like, we can't draft and Parker is a chief case in point. Unlike us the usual teams came away with decent picks at those selections with the usual bad drafters coming away with spuds. Going by you you'd think everything at this club is awesome, and it's purely accidental that we are 12th on the ladder.

Lol no hes not. Heppell is, you fool.
You have serious issues, I have literally never heard anyone until you bag the club for 'missing' Parker.
I have heard people from evey club talk shit about us picking Conca kver Heppell.
That shows which one was an actual miss and which one was you, Captain Hindsights cherry pick.

Anyone that went to the members briefing will back up what I've said. Hardly my fault you don't know what your talking about.

I reckon FJ mirrors the classic mug punter....
Always looking past the obvious favourite for a 'jewel in the rough' type that when/if he comes good will look like a master selection and provide a monster pay off.
Seen many such types around the tracks over the years - once every now and then they fluke a big return but 90% of the time they leave having dropped their $$$ on a hack that does nothing.
Absolutely agree. Explains the Conca pick perfectly. The problem here is that we, the supporters, get done over because of his ego.

Francis Jackson - move him on now and pass the reigns across to the most astute of the remaining three recruiting offices for this draft (then the club can search for a new recruitment manager). I don't understand how people can say let him stay on for one more draft, enough is enough. The last few drafts have been ok (still early days), but does that coincide with the arrival of one of the below guys.

Recruiting Officer Matthew Clarke
Recruiting Officer Richard Taylor
Recruiting Officer Luke Williams

General Manager of Player Personnel & List Management Blair Hartley- do something
Head of Coaching & Football Performance Tim Livingstone- has this bloke been on extended leave

I would hand over the reigns to Luke Williams

1st of all I would put Luke Williams in charge of recruiting. Get rid of FJ now, as the current group would have all the info required to go to the draft & not be influenced by FJ anymore. Then after the draft look at the recruiting dept & make the necessary changes that we need to make to improve this department as much as possible as quick as possible.

Since Williams has arrived we've drafted short people. I don't know if he had the final say or dos he draft a coding to what DH wants or does Casino overrule his thoughts?

In one of the tigers pre draft videos (2014?), after a discussion of players we were looking at for out first pick, BH says FJ has the final call.

I would imagine FJ has the final say in every player we end up with. Williams was considered a coup for our club in 2013,as he was considered one of the better new recruiters coming through after his work at Geelong. FJ has had his time, so I would like for our other recruiters to oversee our coming draft, then make decisions on our current recruiting team after the draft. There needs to be changes, lets see if we can recruit players that are not so left field without Jackson in charge.

I recall how excited we all were when we got LukeW and nothing has improved in terms of our tall stocks

I would imagine this is DH's call. You generally find the coaches let the recruiting dept what type of players they want recruited, then it is the job of the recruiters to find the type of players that have been requested. Knowing DH he would have thought we were loaded with quality KPP's on our list, unfortunately we have seen we are very thin in quality in KPP's as well as quality mids. We certainly have lots of foot soldiers, here's hoping we can turn around on the quality side of recruiting.
