Am probably jumping at shadows, what's new with Buddy and his contract, but with him
being in the sen commentary box could this be him preparing for his afl ambassadorial
role with gws
It's been noticeable how much more media exposure he's given himself in the last fortnight.

I think GWS want Buddy to get used to being in the media. He has NEVER been in a commentary box before,or on Foxtel etc. Work it out guys and gals, now you know why Leon Cameron had a coffee with him on Tuesday.:p He certainly needs advise with his commentary if he is to be in Sydney. GWS EXPECT him to be an ambassador of quality. He had 6 weeks off last year, with a hammy, not ONCE did he appear on radio or tv in that time..He needs coaching for the media.Think about it.

Why would he want to go to sydney. Both teams will be up around the top 4 next year, Sydney's offer at best would match hawthorn's offer. It will be gws or hawthorn

It's probably a good thing
He's so bad at it I'm sure he's thinking " naahhh stuff this!" :p
He seems more relaxed on radio. Spoke pretty well, and sounds most encouraging from a 'will he stay?' perspective when discussing the team, both now and moving forward. Doesn't speak like a man who has committed to go elsewhere (like some claim).
Re doing media, wasn't he on ch 7 last year at half time during his period on the sidelines?

The only positive i got from it was that he said you play football to win premierships and he took the 2008 flag for granted as he was 21. He'd like to win more.

From his halftime chat on channel 7, I'd have to say he's gone.
The most telling moment was when he was asked whether winning the flag would make a difference to which team he would be playing for. He paused, let out a thinking noise and said no it wouldn't.

If he was definitely staying that is an easy question to answer. No thinking required. He had to think about the most politically astute answer.

He is going. He is comfortable with it. He would do anything to win a flag this season.

But that could be consistent with his stated position that he's going to make his decision at the end of the year, not necessarily proof that he's gone.

Was it something he said in particular or his general manner/evasiveness?
General evasiveness. There was some joking around the question, but he didn't seem embarrassed about answering it, just trying hard not giving away his decision.

I'm guessing there's still a few Buddyballs to sell to make way for all the Mack boots he has committed to sell.

I'm still hopeful he'll stay....time will tell!

I want him to stay and become a 1 club player

The money is probably too good to ignore, even though GWS won't be challenging for a flag for several years yet, may as well rack up some $$$$$ while having the AFL version of a hit and giggle tennis match every week.

I think the similarities between Scully, Goddard and Ablett is there.... i hope it is a Cloke situation, i doubt it though.
The only reason why he can't talk about it until the end of the season is because he is contractually not allowed to while still under contract here.

My daughter said after the interview that he's gone. I'd love him to stay - but for the right reasons.

I don't like the idea of one player being paid something like one tenth of the salary cap or more. On TFS last night Stevie J said that no one at Geelong has been on more than $600k in all the time they've been winning premierships. My position has changed as the year has progressed. There are upsides to him staying and upsides to him going so I'm sort of ambivalent about the whole saga now.

I think there are more agreeing with my intuition than there were when I was very certain he was going, and I still do. Ablett was gone,Scully was gone Goddard was gone,,Franklin will be gone,he seems to be enjoying the media more than he ever has before. BINGO..GONE. No doubt in my mind ..

Right, so after careful consideration of Buddy's interview, and the analysis of it, it is obvious that he is BOTH staying and going!

Buddy is Schroedinger's Cat!

(I think I'll wait until we open the box to make my conclusion)
