I'm perplexed that more non-Geelong supporters are making a bigger deal of Franklin defecting than when Ablett did.

Say anything remotely critical of Ablett and you're quickly shouted down and called bitter etc... Apparently Ablett Jnr won all those Premierships off his own boot and owed the Geelong Football Club nothing, good on him for getting an obscene amount that's coming out the pockets of all the AFL clubs.

Whereas with Franklin everyone it seems is up in arms calling him a merc etc.. when I really don't see what the difference is between the 2 defections, they're exactly the same from where I'm standing.
Ablett's defection could be construed as ... went to a brand new club , as captain and to promote the game.

If it was the same wouldn't Buddy be going to the GWS ?

Sorry for the intrusion but just wanted to post that you guys have been reamed by Buddy and the Swans, but I do truly think it will make your club stronger and even more successful moving forward. Frees up a hell of a lot of cap room too.

I also think it will cause long term and short term problems at the Swans. This will be the last big wage recruiting they will be able to do for a long time, so while it may appear to strengthen them now, down the track it will only make them weaker.

Oh and how do you think Buddy will go on the cramped SCG? Going to be alot of choking done.

Just need Luke Hodge to come out and say he will never lose to Sydney ever again.
Another top post.

Brendan Whitecross has more character in his little toe than Franklin has in his whole body !

Whitecross would've done anything to last one more game & make a GF (suffered a double blow)

Franklin played the GF knowing he would be in a Swans jumper in 2014 ! (And he couldn't have given a shhit)
How would Anderson , Savage, Cheney , Spangher all feel now knowing No.23 was already gone !!!!

Agreed. Franklin says he loves the club but it is an orange juice kind of love. People say they love oranges, but what they really mean is they love what oranges do for them. They take the orange, squeeze the juice out of it, then throw it in the bin. This is how I feel Franklin has treated the club.
You mean like the type of love people have for a guy - so long as he runs and performs and entertains us wearing the right jumper. Buddy gave absolutely everything to the HFC (and was paid well to do so)

Give him a break. He is a person that has to live his life. Sometimes people want change. I take it you have never changed jobs before

Interesting watching 360 tonight and the Goodes interview from last week, had no doubt Buddy would be in Sydney next year but also had no doubt he wouldn't be playing for Sydney but for GWS.

He went onto say that they already had a very settled line up, had to wonder if he was lying through his teeth like Pickering but they confirmed he was most definitely bit aware, nor were any of the playing list.

This could really back fire for Sydney.

Don't make it sound like it was a one way street - the club has invested a lot of money, time and 'management' in to buddy being the footballer he is today.

Just got my "We are PREMIERS, renew your membership" email.

Too soon.

FFS HFC, let us get over the lies and mistrust first.

Oh and FWIW I am sooo glad I got #24 on the away jumper this year, now there's a guy that is committed to the club!
Just remember your club didn't lie to you or do anything wrong, they were working on good faith that they were either a chance to resign Lance or that he would go to the most likely suitor in the Giants and were working with them to achieve an outcome that would have been palatable to both side's.
It was that snake Pickering that went to Sydney an raised the possibility of the move there which has blind sided your club and the supporters.

Stand by your club they will make the best of what they can out of the situation, they are a classy outfit

If we had our time over again and had of known what Buddy had of done, there's no way I would've played Franklin in the Grand Final.

Whats everyone ranting about? The guy is certainly goinna be caught in some sort of trouble well before his contract expires - the partyboy lifestyle in Sydney. He willbe hanging around with *ankers 100% of the time now... + the SCG is a dump of a ground wont suit his frame. This will end up like the FEVOLA to Bris...just wait and see.

Buddy could have remained a popular player amongst your supporters if he had gone to GWS and inspired a team of young charges who are not going to challenge. You would acknowledge that he was good for the game and would make that GWS game finally watchable.

It will be harder to keep the love when he is up against you next year in a final in a team that has been built before he turned up.

Pickering is a rat and a lying dog!!!

I hope Clarko dumps him ASAP!!

And yes buddy is a flog of the highest order!!

For him to approach the swans after the loss in the granny reflects his true character!!

A dog of the highest order. Fu-k you buddy we don't need you. Enjoy the Mardy gras festive in Sydney!!

Amen to that. I think even the AFL had penned all this in. The Swans have thrown a spanner in the works - a good slap in the face to the AFL. Now it's time for the AFL to intervene...

Since Sydney is getting Franklin , do you think the AFL will hand Sydney the flag next year?
In a metaphorical sense they are really trying. However the other 17 clubs in the comp need to ensure that Sydney don't win another flag for a generation or two. That will teach them for prying stars out of opposition clubs with their COLA.

Disgrace, why did we play this person on the GF for him to knife all of us and take away the joy of a flag , can't hide my utter dismay !! May he be stricken from our history if he migrates to the low life's up north. I know this sounds irrational but this has decimated my place. Buddy if you any decency left in you turn your back on these pricks

Think the Swans just poked the Hawk... Not a good idea given what the media did to us GF week. Imagine the feeling of the boys in the club, and I couldn't imagine anything they would want more than to go back to back for each other to put the Buddy betrayal behind them.

Always Hawthorn.
