Free Kick Differential Ladder For 2019

Not suprised to see the Tigers down there and Geelong near the top. But oh wait all I hear in Game day threads is Richmond getting the rub of the green 🤪🤔
Although I was cheering for WB the 2016 GF would go down as the most worst officiated game in history so Doggies fans would be happy with that graph leading into the finals lol

No it doesn't
If 5 times the opposition FF is penalised in goal scoring opportunities it's still a goal saved
Yes it does. I see so many teams fans mention the count yet even if they are losing it 10-5 if 3 of those frees are shots at goal and the 10 for opposition are 0 shots at goal the 5 actually has an advantage. It often happens as well

Surprised more rucks weren't up there in FKA, just the two, no surprise Mummy leading the way though.

Will Minson used to give away heaps back in the day for us

Pointless exercise studying this chart unless you can see the breakdown of what the frees are paid for.

Main categories would be:

Holding/dropping the ball.

High tackles

Holding in marking contests

Ruck infringements

I wonder how many of Geelong's +34 would be for their opponents kicking the ball out on the fuil at Kardinia Park?

Only stat in regard to free kicks that matter are:

1. Missed free kicks
2. Free kicks paid that shouldn't have been paid.

Are they missed though or are the umpires just not in the perfect position? I'd rather the umpire let it go rather than taking an educated guess.

As spectators, we get an elevated view of the game, we're not 5ft tall Ray Chamberlain in the midst of 6ft 4in monsters.

It's really weird. Richmond had been getting absolutely shafted by the umpires week in week out for 18 months. I absolutely couldnt understand it. And it wasnt just the raw numbers, the inconsistency each week for what we get penalised for and what the opposition would weas amazing.

Then miraculously it just changed about halfway through the season. Suddenly we were getting a fair run, or even favoured a bit.

I don't know what happened or why it happened, but it's nice to be getting a fair run again at last.

I dont suppose we'll even get the dream treatment that Collingwood and the Dogs get but it's nice to finally be getting fair treatment.

Dogs play an aggressive zone defence which requires defenders to push up and be in front of their man. It's the reason why we have so many 'Joe the Goose' goals kicked against us and also the reason why we don't have many push in the back or chopping the arm frees paid against us.

Dogs are bottom 6 for tackles made, hence we don't get as many infringing or high tackles against as other sides.

Dogs are the third least tackled side in the comp. Therefore, we don't get as many holding the ball against frees as other sides.

Add it all up and what do you get? A positive free kick differential...it's pretty simple arithmetic actually.

But hey...never let the truth get in the way of a good yarn...#freekickbulldogs

Makes perfect sense.

Nope, conspiracy.

Can I just say that I would rather have all the bottom 10 players in my team than all the top 10 players?

saving this for the freo nuffies who go on about afl conspiracies and west coast lizard men running football in wa.
Make no mistake, this is a once in a lifetime event that will be a quiz night staple in 50 years.

For those playing at home...

We had an outlier game v Port Adelaide in R13 where we won the free kick count 32-15

You take that one game out and we finish on -1, Port Adelaide finish on +14, above North and we end up one place above West Coast

Without looking I'm tipping
1. Collingwood
2. North
3. Bulldogs

I'll be ******* shocked if the pies are in the negative.

Hmm north a bit lower than usual aren't they?
