Just wanting to express my dissapointment over some of the free kick counts for certain players. Hear are some examples:

Trent Croad- 10 free kicks for, 37 free kicks against

Croad has had 27 less free kicks than he has given away, he could clearly have a complaint about this or just needs to settle down in the game.

Matthew Primus- 29 free kicks for, 46 free kicks against

Primus couldnt be happy with this count but obviously is having trouble in ruck contests giving away free kicks.

Scott West- 35 free kicks for, 13 free kicks against

Gets a fair run with the umpires by anyones reference.

David Schwarz- 16 free kicks for, 38 free kicks against

Another who couldnt be happy with his treatment from the umpires.

Those are just some interesting free kick figures, comments please...

Primus has some bemusing free kicks paid against him for slinging players with the ball to the ground in a contest.
Obviously the umps feel he is being a bit rough or something, because it is certainly not against any rule in the game.

This is only made up for by the fact Francou gets about 20 minutes to dispose of the ball once tackled.

Agreed, he got one against him on Saturday night in those circumstances. I thought it was a bit of a low act and it probably would have been close to reportable in rugby league as a spear tackle, but I must admit to being a little bewildered as to exactly what rule in our game he had transgressed. He didn't ride him into the ground, more threw him head first into it.

After watching Primus closely on Saturday, I can understand that free count. He absolutely killed Darcy and he did it with aggression and strength (and I don't mean that in our way that diminishes his skill). He is probably the strongest ruckman going around. This means that he's forced the other ruckman off balance quite often (or they got themselves off balance trying too hard to move him) and this can look bad to an umpire. He'll also get frees because the other ruckman will need to push the limit to beat him. But he won't get as many as some others because his strength will mean the umpires don't think the infringement is that significant.

And while I'm here - Scott West. He's our main in and under ball getter who is regularly tagged a la the images of Bolton v Buckley we all saw last week. I think an average of less than 2 free kicks per game for the main play maker in the side isn't over the top. As for 13 against, well, he's a ball player. He'll go for the ball rather than dwell and tackle. Of the 13, I would expect to find that most of them are for incorrect disposal. If you don't give them away, the final tally will most likely be in your favour.

Trent Croad - he simply gives away alot. He was described elsewhere as clumsy. He certainly is whenever he contests a ruck contest. He hasn't much clue. Any ideas on the proportion of his frees that were given away in the ruck? No opinion on the 'for' side. Haven't noticed if he's getting a raw deal but forwards don't get much anyway.

Schwarz - he's a forward so that goes against him. Apart from that, based on whenever I've seen him play, the stat doesn't surprise me. Quite happy to go in aggressively at the man. Nothing wrong with that but you'll get nabbed if it goes a bit wrong.
