Fyfe in the forward line drags the best defender off tabs and lets him off the chain more. Iistening to Duff on his podcast today he said surely now fyfe's legacy is getting team success. Its the missing link of an outstanding career winning another brownlow wont make much of a difference compared to a premiership. And if it means moving forward working on his forward craft in the off-season so he can become a 50 goal a year forward then so be it.

Obivously if cerra leaves then it may be harder to do that. But i think if cerra stays and the club finish the year strong and make finals without Fyfe then the club i feel needs to plan and prepare Fyfe as a forward at least to start the year. Commit to it and see how it goes. Fyfe needs protecting from himself sometimes as i reckon he has only got through one season without a major injury once in his career because he plays such a physical game.

I like this in theory, but it really depends upon Fyfe's ability to become a forward. This year it's felt like we've weakened our midfield for an average forward who makes up for lack of craft with his immense footballing talent. There were glimpses (someone mentioned the GWS game), but I'm dubious as to whether it can be anything more than a trick play. Of course, you'd back Fyfe to work hard and make a decent fist of it, plus he came up playing forward so it's not completely alien to him, but they have to go full-bore if they're going to do it (full off-season, specialised goal-kicking coach, psychologist, etc.). He'd also need to learn how to pressure and tackle effectively again, if that's possible given his shoulder(s).

As always with Freo the "if" is mighty tantalising. A fully functioning line of Tabs, Treacy, Fyfe, Sturt, Walters and Schulz (assuming Lobb is off to pastures new) could be spectacular, and not a little dangerous if everyone plays to their best and stays fit.

But as they say, if my Auntie had bollocks, she'd be my Uncle.

And I really hope to meet Uncle Cynthia next year and celebrate Fyfe kicking 6 in the Granny.

Watched a replay last night. The last quarter was just as spine tingling second time around. And when the siren went I just had to smile.

I reckon I would enjoy rewatching it, knowing the result. But live it was way too stressful to enjoy. Took me a long while to get my heart back into a normal beat after that frantic finish. Ha.

I love that photo of Sean , Ryan and Young
Lot of heart in that hug 🤗

Never seen more backhanded compliments than in that article from Quartermain - "theatrics" "tricking the umpure" from Serong when all he did was stand still after the tummy-tickle from Cochin right in front of the umpire. Then he had to cut the sentence about kicking the go-ahead goal with a dig at our crowd size. Shouldn't be allowed near a Wharfy article.

The guy's a muppet, and I simply don't read his articles any longer.
