Our season is over, according to McDermott. The guy has no clue, none at all. How does he have a job? :thumbsd:

Anyway, the one major positive is that I believe there were no injuries. van Berlo sounded pretty classy and Douglas and Knights found a bit of the ball. Reilly and Thompson were both good by the sounds of it.

First of all I read absolutely nothing into pre-season games, I’m not the slightest bit concerned over our pre-season form. Youngsters are given game time when they usually wouldn’t be, players are experimented in different positions, and gameplans are being tested. Basically it’s just for players to build up match fitness.

I am concerned however about our forward line because without Henstchel and Ricciuto, our major goalkickers last year, we are severely lacking. Perrie is utterly useless, don’t give me the cop out that he was rusty, he is always pathetic regardless of how many games he has under his belt. Even tonight we heard that he dropped a few marks he should have taken, haven’t we heard that before. Welsh is already injured and will probably miss 10 or so games this season. Sellar and Tippett both aren’t ready, so we have to stick with what we’ve got. So that means Perrie at CHF. Joy.

I've got time for the Sarge if he gets games under his belt. He was very good for us in 2005. His knee injury cost him big time last season and we haven't seen any of his 2005 form. Perrie isn't a natural footballer. He will take time and a couple of good things will start happening around Round 3 and that will snowball into confidence and good form.

Maybe optimistic, but this is how Perrie has worked for as long as we've had him.

i went... left at the 12 minute mark of the last... was a pretty poor performance... we burnt the ball a lot and their run killed us, brett peake will be an absolute superstar, just continues to run and carry and dispose well... i thought van Berlo was good, so was Johncock down back. I think freo can actually goa ll the way this year, Tarrant killed us early and ended up with 4 or 5 i think...

All i can say is:

:p :D :) :) :) :) :)

What the crap was up with our kicking?
7 goals 16
3 goals 12 at one stage.
That's woeful!

23 scoring shots each and we lose by 25 points?
Mental!

i went... left at the 12 minute mark of the last...

Missed our comeback with a few junk time goals We were thrashed by much more than the scores show They missed a lot of easy shots whereas we were shooting from a long way out Pace is our problem Edwards now does a Skipworth turn everytime he has possession Slow in the middle slow down back and even slowr up forward Teams now block the runners on each side of the ballholder, our forward movement is stopped and we start to go backwards
At the shed Craig said Clarke was pushed out the same as Hart

haha yer... we didnt deserve to be that close... they were by far the better team... you are right about pace being the worry, i think tonight edwards turn ala the late grat skippy was caused by a severe lack of movement in the forward line... everytime we got the ball there was just no one moving for the ball carrier, it was extremely frustrating to watch, almost as frustrating as the bloke sitting behind us whinging about every free that wasnt played to either team and calling both teams us and we lol

This dont sound good, but anyone notice how serious freo took this game?

as in squad and rotations?

I'll reserve my judgement until Round 1............but I'm almost done with the Perrie experiment.

disappointing loss..........especially because most of our points were because we had to have shots from distance

I think that was the plan.
Get Tarrant and Pav gel-ing together.
Haslby needs as much time as possible.
How did he go?

Ok, didn't set the world on fire. Played up forward in the first half and was given a bath by Johncock. Played more up the ground in the second half and was quite solid.

Pretty lack lusture performance tonight. We seemed indecisive off half back, everything was just so slow from getting the ball from defence to attack. We chipped sideways a lot, and backwards from time to time. We mucked around on the 50m arc a number of time, instead of just going for goal. Macca went for goal though, kicked a nice one :thumbsu:

Some freo player was reported for striking Basset in the head. Looked like a elbow on the replay, Bassest is ok though. Doughty may have picked up a niggle and took no part in the last quarter.

Griffen was good, boy can he leap :) he had a nice piece of play in the first quarter, where he got the hit out, picked up a handball then dived on the loose ball. Edwards played well tonight, he found plenty of the ball, as did McLeod. Johncock looked better as the game went on. Knights also found the ball a lot. Vince and Porplyzia both played more in the second half. Vince finished with around 10 possessions, a few marks and a couple of behinds. Ian Perrie had a bad night. He wouldn't have taken one mark, he didn't score.

Possesion overall wasn't very good. There were a lot of missed kicks and handballs. We have some improving to do in two weeks.

Final Score:
Adelaide 7.15 57
Fremantle 11.11 77

Adelaide Goals: Bode 2, Burton, Hudson, Johncock, McLeod, Bock 1,
