Fremantle in Disarray

A few months back my uncle came to me with some rumoured info. He has some connection through his business to a guy high up in WAFC and the dockers. The WAFC guy said there was a meeting amoungst the freo board about the legality of getting rid oh Hart and Harvey.

The OP is a quite bizarre thing to hear BUT, if you're going to post things like this name names.

Otherwise you're no different to the *nudge nudge wink wink* of Hardie and the like.

So, who is this guy?

My uncle asked the Dockers guy, who at first said that he knew nothing of it. A week later he came back and said it was in fact true that a meeting had taken place.

At first I dimissed it as being my Wiggle loving uncle stiring the pot. However, two to three weeks later Hart is gone.

So I could believe these is some truth to the story unfortunately.

I have said for several years now I think FFC sufffers from the rivalry from south vs East Freo with supporters of each of the WAFL clubs trying to undermine the other. I have no evidence of this, just a feeling.

However, until I see some action I tend not to believe these sorts of rumour as I an convinced there is a portion of the WA public and media, outside of the FFC that are determined to distablise the club. Or it could be just paranoia.

Like the Mcphee pick, I will believe it when I see something offical from the club and not rely on two bit jounalist that arent inteligent enough to come up with a decent story and instead just make shit up about freo to try and make a name.

Wasn't Rick Hart always going?

And how is Mark Harvey affiliated to either WAFL club anyway? How would the supposed East/South rivalry apply to him?

yep, he stated at the start of the year that this year may well be his last. He has also quit his CEO role at the Rick Hart stores. My guess is that he has planned on taking a different path for quite some time.

as for Harvey...I expect this type of media pressure on him to get worse....unless we start winning of course.

Well, perhaps you should wait and see if anyone is sacked before the start of the season before writing this off?

Lets face it, is Harvey really that good? He should be doing much better with the list he has. Just a 30% winning record. I wouldn't be surprised if not everyone was onboard with what he was doing.

Yeah, cos a team of 18 year olds who cant even grow a moustache, should really be at their football peak.

Fo.

yep wait for the season to start and that horror run we have in the first 4 games.
then you will see media pressure an lots of people questioning harveys position.

I think he he is the right man for the job and i like the types of players he has been getting BUT i would not sign him up for another yr or 2 just to shut the media up an release the pressure.

I still havent seen any onfield results that make me say yes he is going to be a great coach.
he went into the season with the idea of zoning, we looked terrible an were crap so it got thrown out the door an we went back to plain an simple 1 on 1 an results were much better for a few games and could see players were giving it everything.
Then for rest of season the intensity was lacking an it seemed they were just going through the motions.

If he has a gameplan he needs to have faith in it an not just ditch it after a few games.
Hawks didnt learn there gameplan overnight they went through hard times but had faith in it and stuck with it.

Theres also questions on harveys matchups/matchday coaching.
So until i see more positive results onfield i see no point in signing him on for longer.

And yet Neil Craig, for chucking his game plan out the window with a more experienced team, is a friggin genius.

The team got tired and lacked intensity late in the year because we were in the position of having to play truckloads of young bucks who hadn't had a proper preparation for the rigours of a full AFL season. Hill and Suban in particular would have welcomed a rest I'm sure. Remember our injuries.

We'll be a lot more competitive in a lot more games in 2010. I say give Harvey another year and give it to him now.

Probably due to the fact that relying on 1 on 1 footy will tire out all the young players in the team. That is probably the reason that we attempted to play a zone style at the beginning of the season in order to preserve our younger players more during the season as well as get practice playing the zone.

I would envisage that Harvey will still be employing both kinds of style as that is what will win games when you need to change tactics during a game.

Any suggestions on who it could be though? No one springs to mind so it smells like bullshit.

Ben Allan, Chris Bond and Steve Rosich seem to be on the same page as Harv's and his assistants were hand picked.

Don't know, but what has changed between round 22 and now? If there was a groundswell of discontent Harvey would have got the arse in September.

He should be doing much better with the list he has.

Bollocks, your list is atleast 12 months ahead of ours. What's King Woosha's winning % since Harvey was appointed?

this is why imo the ffc must act early and extend harveys contract early ala cuddles in '05.

Yeah because that worked out great last time didn't it.

If Connolly had been sacked instead of re-signed in 2005 we wouldn't be in this mess.

Hart's term was up, Harvey has a year to run and is probably on around half a million a year which is picket money really so if the board wanted to get rid of Harvey he'd be gone.

Since he's your Uncle ask him the board members name, otherwise it seems like nonsense.

At first I dimissed it as being my Wiggle loving uncle stiring the pot. However, two to three weeks later Hart is gone.

The Eagles chairman wished Rick Hart all the best for the future at the round 6 derby because it was common knowledge that he was finishing up so hardly earth shattering news there.

It's like someone telling you we're going to draft Morabito then thinking "Gee, he's got some awesome inside info".

Supporters of South and East can please themselves, but how many of these people are in a position to influence the club? There's more people with links to Essendon than South and East combined at the club.

You're doubting that the club are keen to recruit McPhee? That's happening.

yeah, he was....

I think that quote is the inspiration behind the article. Someone really pissed off that the Bombers got nothing in return for McPhee..
they are carrying on like bitches... they knew what to do if they wanted to keep Skeletor. They played blinds man bluff and pissed it away

Bond and Lloyd manage the list.
thats the truth of it...

Hope this isn't true. The one thing we need is stability in order to move forward.

It would be fair to say the Melbourne media has little to no regard for the Fremantle Football Club. Glenn McFarlane's team of the decade last week included Pavlich and suggested that he would be admired if he played in Melbourne but is maligned because he plays for a team that few people care about.

Hopefully these rumours are exactly that and the club is behind Harvey and co for the season ahead.

It's a stab in the dark...

If there were any rumblings that serious behind the scenes it would have been picked up on and at the very least discussed here on this board with the tragics that we are that keep track of our club year round...

The McFree scenario has just put the spotlight on us. It's the typical have a crack at Freo ******** spluttering that will never be backed up... The AFL journo's are just dribbling shit and filling time 'till the draft next week....

Greg Denham is actually Western Australian and works for a national newspaper.

Thank you very much for your input. Did you happen to read the part in the original story where he was heard on a MELBOURNE radio station? With KB (From the TIGERS former Richmond - located in Victoria) who also happens to be a radio presenter and journalist, bagging the Hell out of Freo without 1 shread of proof? What is Denham's job? Oh yes, that he is right. He is a journalist!

Journalist in Melbourne = Victorian Journalist even if he was born in Perth and is a dirty dog of a Wet Toast supporter. I challenged him for proof and he said that he had heard from a 'source' and that was good enough.

The facts do not seem to matter much to him, nor to you it seems.:thumbsd:

i meet mark havey for for the first time the other day .. didn't know me from a bar of soap and stood there for 15min talking about all aspects of life. i know a few of the boys at freo andhey are 110 % behind harvs. hard arse but thats whats you need for a team that has never quite been good enough. not for lack of talent but hunger for the hard footy and heart to bleed for the jumper. as far as i'm concerned he is the best man for the job with this developing group and will take them as far as they can go. might not be a premiship but the opposition will hate playing us because of our relentless attack on the footy and desire to play for fremantle football club.

Well said and summed up exactly why I think he got the gig. The FFC was never hard at it in our history and Harvey is building our side to be intimidating and relentless so that we either scare the opposition or wear them down during the course of a game.

Players must have that respect for a coach so that they can look him in the eye when they come off the field.
