If there is still a lot of work to be done and the people in place over the last 2 seasons continue their good drafting, why would anyone want to move them on?

Move who on? Harvey? I never said that.

The development of the 2007 and 2008 draftees over the next 1-2 years and the gelling of the team is what Harvey should be judged on - if they stagnate, he will be in trouble. Rebuilding a list doesn't happen overnight. Everyone is very quick to complain about the state of the list post-Connolly/Schwab, but not many appear to have the patience to allow Harvey/Bond to correct the deficiencies.

I actually agree with this, I just disagree with some - not all - of the choices Harvey has made along the way.

Instead of taking the 80th best 18 year old in the country they could do the same thing as last year and take the best 21-22 year olds in the WAFL with later picks.

Yeah, we could do, and i dont think its really that bad of an idea. My major gripe with it, is good WAFL players, dont necesserily make good AFL players. Head/Gilmore are fair examples of that. Even Murph can kick a bag in the WAFL.

I was impressed with his form for Swannies, I'd much rather have Pratt in the back pocket than Thornton.

Yeah, dont rate him at all. Fumbled the ball. a fair bit in the matches he played, just got the feeling he couldnt handle the pressure. I drafted him into my Dream Team as a cheap money maker for a long term injury, and tbh, he dogged me. So bad was that list management decision infact, i almost sacked myself.

I dont mind Thornton tbh. I dont think hell be around in 3-4 years time by any means, but he gives us some nice run out of defense, can play well as a small defender, and as we saw late in the year, he can bob up in the forward line and kick a couple of goals.

From the short time ive been hanging about this place, ive noticed we have a few token scapegoats such as Thornton and Grover and a few of the lovefest type, like Kepler and Chris 25's mancrush, Hinkley (who im currently undecided on, thanks to Chris 25's unbreakable love ). Everyone thinks football should be played a different way i suppose, and i rate him high enough to keep him on my list. On the flip side, Kepler has his uses, and can play a good game occasionally, but is a jack of all trades, master of none type, and for some reason, just doesnt float my boat.

What's the point in delisting depth players to pick up some more crabs that wont even get to depth level?

I do not want to be drafting like Richmond and picking up 14 new kids in this draft.

I'm sure Bond/Lloyd will make the right call again. And to those who fear some of our youngsters might be poached by GC, I just can't see it happening. I don't think any decent player on our list will leave for GC. GC will more probably concentrate on Victorian clubs.

In three years Pav will still be playing but as we have all noted, we are short KPP options. Our most likely prospects are unfortunately both rookies in Sibo and Shep. Otherwise our players 192 cm or more and 25 years old or less are MJ, Mundy, Kep, Clarke and Murphy.

Thinking a bit laterally could Mundy become a KPP? He is the most naturally talented of the bunch, reads the play well, has good hands, good decision making and excellent disposal. He's played well of a back flank, but could he be groomed into a CHB?

Some players (like Hasleby and Luke Hodge) play tall but Mundy actually plays shorter than he is. Takes very few contested marks and lacks the pace to play as a KPP.

That wasn't bad Moo, though occasionally Mundy does put in a real gutsy effort e.g. the game against essendon in round 21. I don't know why he is so patchy, but I did I guess I'd be coaching

ADELAIDE could look to secure a mature-age player with its last live pick in Thursday's NAB AFL Draft, according to recruiting manager Matt Rendell.

They can sign 16 uncontracted players without trading though, so the only players they'll trade picks for will be
a) requesting a trade to the Gold Coast
b) under contract.

Can't see a lot of players falling into that category.

For sure but the whingers like Brett Peake and Mark Seaby are more likely to go to GC than someone under contract and getting a game.

Will be an interesting trade week, a lot of clubs will probably contradict themselves by preaching loyalty to their 21-22 year olds then offer their 26-27 year olds to the Gold Coast for early picks.

Can't see it being an attractive proposition to anyone over 25 unless they are money hungry or struggling for opportunity though.

Getting ahead of ourselves a bit much there I reckon - a lot can happen in a year and Mundy or Crowley may have a year that stamps them as untradeable

Mundy will be out of contract, so it will be his decision really, thats if they offer him a spot on their list. We will just cop whatever the AFL gives us as compo. Whats Crowls contract status??..

How about Murphy??....he would be a great pick up for GC, from our perspective anyway.

I think its an attractive proposition if you have the runs on the board (Grand final etc) or if your with a club unlikely to get a flag..Lifestyle at Gold Coast would attract allot of players.

Tbh, i dont think any player we want will be out of contract. Thats fine by me.

Id like to keep Bara-Mundy, but if we got the right pick for him, i could handle losing him.
