Watching them at the game yesterday, yes sure they don't have the cattle or key players structurally, but it was things like missed tackles and the most easy 20m kicks under no pressure just getting munged. No coach can help you with that. It happened way to often.
I'm not saying get that right they'll be playing finals, but alot of it is between the ears. Getting rid of Ross would make no sense at this point as no 'messiah' is taking this list to a top 4.

Yeah I'm often told this, and it was nice to see, but I never liked Lyon's gameplan and didn't want him as coach at Freo.
I never had much faith in him and even when we got to the GF I didn't think we stood much chance of winning. Hawks had the wood on us there. More often than not we'd lose games against the Hawks and usually all the vaunted defensive pressure would count for naught.
Hawks would open us up like a sunday ham.

I didn't like the way we shafted Harvey (though we needed another coach) and did not want Lyons game plan at Freo.

It did become difficult to say all this openly when Freo were doing well under Lyon though. You'd get howled down mercilessly.

Yeah absolutely for me. Pretty objectively the best coach we've had and I don't see any options out there now that seem definitively better.

Of course there are limits to that, and losses like yesterday don't do much for him. But personally I was reasonably satisfied with how he handled players like Blakely, Weller, Langdon and Tucker last year and if he can continue that then great. If it comes to round 15-16 and we haven't seen more games into kids, and we don't see an improvement in the team displaying a workable plan then you've gotta ask questions. Look at it in the offseason and see how we went.

Wow ok. Now I see the type of person I'm discussing this with. Dawson hasn't won a one on one contest in two years? Do you watch the games?

As far as I'm concerned, the port adelaide game was a coach killer. I can't see Ross recovering from it as a coach. I'm not one for rash moves after a few bad games but I genuinely believe, as many have said, that the modern game has gone past him.
The contract extension was a mistake, but footy clubs make them.
Time for a payout, and time to move on.

First bridge is match committee, and want to see at least 3 changes from that side with Balic, Collins, and Taberner in for Suban, Griffin, and Ibbotson.
 
So we are back here again. All too familiar territory. I'd be looking hard at Dawson and Sandy for a start. These guys are one dimensional and modern footy needs more than they can offer. i.e. a more versatile ruckman who can damage you forward and a more skillful backman who can give you rebound. As far as the Boss goes, he's there for the year in my book. I'd be livid if they paid him out in full for his remaining time. Would hope there are some performance hurdles in that contract.

There was also a stat pointed out where Lyon lost by 70+ only twice in his first 200 odd games but has now had 4 of his last 7 end up 70+ beltings so it not just the losses now but the fact they are getting hammered

Get rid of all your old players . They wont be in another Grand Final . If Mundy is a free agent let him go get a draft pick .

He isnt a rebuild coach which is gonna be painful for him and Freo . Might be in Freos interests to offload him to Goldcoast . 1.2 million a year For 4 years is a joke
 
So what has dramatically or drastically changed ?

Is it Manic desire and manic running and tackling has stopped.

The players are basically the same

Are the players burnt out or just not responding to the Lyon mantra and if not why not ?

Change to the rotation policy in order to eliminate the practice of rolling 100+ rotations per game. It's not physically possible to play the traditional Ross Lyon gamestyle any more.
